Took Dad out today for only his second time on the boat. Hit the water about 1 and started off slow. Walleye wouldn't play and I couldn't locate white bass like Friday afternoon. We started bass fishing. Caught a bunch of smallies (I caught a couple brutes), and dad boated his first small mouth. I landed one smallie that puked up a giant crawdad. I was sight fishing to feeding smallies and it was pretty fun. Also caught several largemouth and I caught one that went probably 4 lbs. Then we apparently stumbled into a bed of big bluegills. Now I have never caught a bluegill out of this body of water. We caught largemouth, smallmouth, bluegills, and 1 15" crappie out of the same patch of submerged weeds. They really preferred a 3" blue with pink tail curly grub on an 1/8 oz jig. As we were doing that we noticed a big school of white bass busting shad 75 yards away. We finished the day up chasing those catching a bunch. Again Dad had never fished schooling white bass. Threw rattle traps at them until it was time to leave. Lots of fish caught today as well.

Always fish with your dad as much as possible as he will not be the forever. I learned this lesson the hard way.

I sure wish mine was still around.

I take mine every chance I get. He's always ready to go and often times brings mom.

Yeah My Mom decided when I was in high school she could either be left behind or learn to fish. She learned and a lot of times out fished my Dad and I.

Great report. We were out there yesterday as well with similar results. Tried targeting walleye early, but could only get on a couple. One was just under the 21" limit. Probably should have worked at it a bit longer. Smallies and whites kept us entertained. Also caught a 2' wiper and three big crappie. We also got on a couple surfacing schools. Pretty entertaining.

Nice. We didn't do so well at lacygne. Maybe we should have went to coffee county. :)

Not a lot of walleye in that lake big enough to keep. It's been a couple years since I have caught one 21" or better and as you can tell I fish it pretty regularly. Catch quite a few 20" and under.

Why do you think there most of the walleye are under 21"?It can't be do to the creel limit.Talked to an older gentleman this winter at the ramp who said there are not as many bait fish.

They keep the baitfish population low in that lake so they don't clog the plant's intake screens. It wasn't that many years ago walleye fishing there was tough. Used to be a different creel limit and I am fairly sure that was a major contributing factor.
