Does anyone know where I can get some bait system or treatment for termites that I can do myself. Cooks pest control wont offer termite protection unless they can access 100 percent of your home. I had one small area they could not get to under the floor and they would not cover me. I am going to call some more places.
you can buy termador on line and that is the best treatment for termites. you just need to make a trench around your home on the outside, mix according to directions and fill the trench and let it soak in. It is better to inject it down in the ground but you probably dont have access to do that. The termites will crawl through it and take it back to the colony and infect the whole colony and it will kill the queen and the colony will die out. Do you have a active infestation right now?
Termador is the best there is.......Most Pest Control Co's will not cover you with a damage contract if they cannot access the whole house....I don't blame them........Most will not if there is any ground to wood contact either.
Cooks came out and done an inspection and he said from what he inspected he did not see any termites. When we bought the house they told us get a yearly inspection because the previous owners had to get treatment in one small area at one time. I have not seen any signs of anything in the house. However I have a wooden wishing well in the yard and when I flipped it over there were a lot of termites. I also did not know most people do not recommend putting mulch next to your home. I had custom flower beds put in and had mulch put in. The house walls are brick down to the ground on most of it but some of the mulch touches the bottom of my porch which is wooden but is elevated off the ground a few inches. I have not noticed any on the porch or around the bottom edges of the wood, but my wife did have a wooden flower pot in the mulch that when I turned it had some termites on the bottom. Now I am worried about my flower beds. I read on line where people have said the mulch does not attract termites but when one finds it that it goes back and brings the colony with it and that you just need to keep them treat regularly and that the mulch would be ok. I hate to know I spent that much and have to take all that money and work out, but I dont want to have to do a bunch of repairs either. Any suggestions?
Wood does not attract termites, moisture does. If you have mulch it is going to keep the moisture in the ground better thus being more attractive to termites.That one termite that you were talking about bring back the colony may never come back to the house again. They leave a pheronome trail that the others follow. If I had termites that close to my house I would get it treated with termador, that if done right will last for years, probably a minimun of 10 years and I wouldnt worry about coverage but would have them check the house every year with a free inspection.
If you are going to stay in that home, by all means do your own extermination. If you sell the home, your will have to pay the piper for a treatment. The average cost is 5 dollars per linear foot, think perimeter.

just a shallow trench that will let the water stay along the foundation and not run away, just make like a little levee to hold the water in. Look online for instrutions on how to use Termador and it should tell you.
What kind of foundation are you on? basement or crawlspace
Termador is not available every where. I live in Indiana and could not get it shipped to me because of state restrictions. But there are similar products that are pretty good.
I am on crawlspace. I read where you had to have the outside and underneath treated if crawlspace

If you can't find signs of termites on your property it would be a first ! they are everywhere . I worked for a termite company when I got out of school for about a yr. . a six inch clearance was needed to get the warranty . Saw a man buy a treatment because his wife stacked a bundle of tomato sticks under the house and when the swarm came out he panicked . the product was a good one and should be done right ! However at that time I could have done it for under a hundred . With all the regulations today I am not sure you can buy the chemicals needed . We were trained to find damage and at the very least signs that termites are in the area . lol . This sales technique called " clover leafing " paid my bills as I was on min. wage plus commission. most always damage occurs ( if home site was sprayed before building ) where wooden fences were added to house . , when the fireplace frame was not torn town after home was completed . , dirt filled porches that touched wood .dig out the crawl space and have a reliable ( company in business over 20 yrs. . ) do the job . The chemicals work as it is not rocket science . Don't pay Cadillac prices when yogo prices are adequate ! :twocents
