Mpfs
OK........while in STL jinxing the Cardinals, my mind was thinking of how to get into this multi pole setup.
Due to reasons involving the Dept of Treasury, the IRS, and my main wife, I cannot jump into a full version of this setup immediately. Besides, I still have just seen a multi pole deal ONE time...........and not sure of what all I can do or want to do yet, especially with limited funds.
SO....I came up with the Multi Pole Fishing System, or MPFS. For folks like RCC, etc., this is pronounced "MUPFUS". This is not the name of the city where the Cardinal AAA farm club is, by the way.
I already have four of these on my boat, two front and two aft:

mounted on side of gunwale.
SO....I thought I'd just get four more, and mount them, and then I'd have two on left front, two on right front (spaced out a bit), two on back left, and two on right back. Heck, that's probably as many poles as I can manage, suffering from TCD (terminal clumsy disease).
Why wouldn't this work?

OR....
if the concept is ok, would four of these work better?

Hmmm. Well thanks for all the comments! :) Guess I'll just do it anyway!

I set my boat up a couple of years ago with drift masters for half of that price. My nerves will not take more than four poles out at a time. Specialy in the pole timber at Greer's. DP

You are gonna want them a bit higher than that and dont spread them out to far or you will be laid up with a bad neck. Blackfish gave me that advice when setting mine up and it might just be the best advice yet on spider riggin. I would just bite the bullet and get one rack because you are going to spend $60.00 already on two of these. http://www.millenniummarine.com/inde...&product_id=57

Multi poling is all good. Been seeing some deals in the classifieds cause lots are changing out to Spyderloks. Still running the driftmasters and started with a 4 pole set up and used some low cost rods. I like my holders just about knee high while I'm sitting. That way when they are all hung at the same time, the line is easy to reach with the knife.:Rofl
Good luck with this endeavor.

OK. Seemed to me that $48 for four more pole holders was/is a good deal. Maybe not.

Not saying it's not a good deal I just think it will more of a headache and hassle. Randal has a good point about keeping them close. Lol

I'm not arguing..... I'm sure you guys are right.
Those answers fit for spider rigging. What about "long lining" (what I call trolling)? Seems my set up would work maybe for that. If I install the new ones close to each of the existing ones, there'd be two rods fairly close together.
Hmmm.
I spend too much time trying to jury rig stuff, I guess.
I am in process of doing a rebuild of an old 14' aluminum jon boat. I may get these and use 'em on that boat if they don't work here.
Hmmm. Still cogitating.
Thanks for the input.......it helps to run my crazy ideas by those less crazy than I.

I used that set-up for trolling for a few years. it'll work fine
