Has anyone else here, put the new 7.080 update on there 998?:dono
After installing the 7.080 update my unit seems to be working other than while in simaltor mold theres no 83khz.using the unit on the water the 83khz works.(imo) in 2d mold the 200khz doesn't perform as well as it did with my previous version.the 83khz ,well I'm not sure right now.the only 2d view that I think I can get by with, for now would be the 200/83 mold, and imo its not all that great but its the best for me.this picture is from the 200/83
Nope. Don't intend to either. Sticking with 6.49 until the cows come home. Don't have 360 Imaging, iPilot Link, HS or Autocharts. And I don't use Lakemaster charts either. Only item in this update that would affect me (I guess?) is the feature that "Corrects issue where sonar continued to ping after sonar was turned off". A problem I didn't know I had :dono
Didn't know you had a 998 Kosmo. Thought you had switched to the Onix series.
I have an onix 10 at the bow and a 998 at the console. Next year will have a onix at the console to replace the 998
kosmo ....could you do a test for me (us) with the new software on the 998....??
1st test...
*Put the "Beam Select" on 200kHz ....
*Put the "Imaging Frequency" on 455kHz...
*Get a clean straight full screen history in SI....(your normal scanning boat speed and Chart Speed)...
*Open a zoom box on the vertical line where the water column meets the bottom detail...
*Zoom all the way in on this vertical line...
*Take a screenshot...
*Post the screenshot...
2nd test....
*Put the "Beam Select" on 200kHz....
*Put the unit on 800kHz....
*Get a clean straight full screen history in SI....(your normal scanning boat speed and Chart Speed)...
*Open a zoom box on the vertical line where the water column meets the bottom detail...
*Zoom all the way in on this vertical line...
*Take a screenshot...
*Post the screenshot..

If that includes 83 kHz, I'm impressed. Tweak the settings a little and that would be a really decent image for 83/200. Just not sure why the 83 would be improved while the 200 a bit downgraded. Nothing in this update that I can tell indicates they messed with any of the 2D frequencies.
The first thing that I noticed that was different, was while in simulator I no longer have a 83khz to view, just a blank white screen with only the digital dept ,that was working but no sonar.my 200khz looks really strange now.(tomorrow,I'll run that test and post pictures. )
Looking forward to it!!! :highfive
The Simulator is nothing more than a "live recording" someone at HB performed on the water...
It is then hard coded into the unit....
If whoever made that recording did not have the 83kHz running during the recording...then there will be no data for the 83kHz channel to "play back" in the Simulator...
We can do the same thing with our HB recordings...
When I record, I turn off the 83kHz channel...simply to have less data to load for the Humviewer program playback...(but that's another story)...
Why the 83kHz channel was turned off for the ONIX Simulator recording...we can only guess...
Maybe the 83kHz running during the ONIX Simulator recording made the rest of the Simulator recording look...uh...not so good...

It could be that there never was a 83 recording, with my 998,im not for sure:dono
Maybe someone else could check there unit and post the results
6.830 on the 999 has no 83khz simulator
I'll have to check my 1197...
I'm not 100% sure it has the 83kHz Simulator recording...
List...list....now where did I put that darn "to do" list...??
:yikes

I read that doug doesn't run the 83 and they used one of his videos for the simulator.
These shots are all using 200/83 for the 2d and 455 for si....http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...pszvogionn.pnghttp://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...pspsvn6zih.pnghttp://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...psnlsmsaeu.pnghttp://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps6gpdn2v1.png
More pics Kos!!!! :ThumbsUp
GOOOOOOOD!!!
I will be testing in the morning & I have a brand new Class 10 KIngston 8GB card in slot one....:biggrin
Just took a look at the software available and see there is a 7.090 for the 998, but the 798 is still at 6.740. Will this cause a problem with the 2 units networked?
I guess I better load 998cSI_v7_090 then! :scratchhead :scratchhead
OK. Are we judging 83 kHz in the new release of software by viewing videos in Simulator mode or from actual images taken while on the lake?
The only reason I'm still on 6.49 on both of my 998s is because of the problems with 83 kHz in the latest versions. I use 83/200 religiously while vertical jigging with spoon and dropshot when the fish go deep. If the "pixelation" problem has been resolved with 7.09, then I may give it a try. If not, I'll stick with 6.49.
Brown trout,my pictures came from the 7.080 software.now three days later theres 7.090 software out.ill load it today and give it a try
kosmo ...can you perform the test I outlined before...but with one different setting...??
1st test...
*Put the "Beam Select" on 83kHz...
*Put the "Imaging Frequency" on 455kHz...
*Get a clean straight full screen history in SI....(your normal scanning boat speed and Chart Speed)...

*Zoom all the way in on this vertical line...
*Take a screenshot...
*Post the screenshot...
2nd test....

*Put the unit on 800kHz....
*Get a clean straight full screen history in SI....(your normal scanning boat speed and Chart Speed)...
*Open a zoom box on the vertical line where the water column meets the bottom detail...

From the definition of 7.09 on HBs web site it is identical to 7.08. Screwup on the definition?
That's fine...I'm using you to investigate if the zigzag in the SI has been fixed...
My 1197 is past the point of getting new updates...so your test will help users with xx8 series SI units...
____________________________
One other thing I would like for you to try and notice...
Does the SI screen scroll rate change between the 2 separate "Beam Select" settings of 200kHz only vs 83kHz only...??

Am I wrong here thinking that HB is offering the incorrect software for the Ilink controller? I was able to push version 7.090 to both of my 1198s, but when I downloaded the updates for the controller and remote, they would not push. I went back to the site and read a little more on the updates. Looks like 2.070 is only for ONIX or ION, but that is what I got when I used the hyperlink for the Ilink controller. Although I did get version 2.02 for the remote? So I'm still stuck at version 1.160 for both my controller and remote. I'm going to the lake tonight to give it a shot, as I tried to push it in my garage with the motor deployed.
BELOW that listed S/W for Onix are the ones you want - and reboot between each install.
I just did an 899 a few days ago and it didn't like one of the SD Cards and I had to reboot both the HB & Terrova to get it done.
Make sure you have a .BIN extension - the Onix is another format (.PKG).

I monkeyed up the DI enhance & never reset it so a few shots look a bit gritty and it was breeeeeZY out there today, as you'll see in some of the shots taken on the lee side of things it was still pretty bad ("10-20's" or so they said!).
FWIW, When on the gas motor the right side is a bit blind from the motor & hydrofoil too.
First few shots are just the 200 KHz which I prefer anyways, All shots were taken on the 998c HD SI though I was using the 899 @ the bow for a plotter off the HS puck also & shared sonar data most of the day with the 998's HDSI on 455.
The 200/83 doesn't look very good to me - and I didn't notice about the scroll speeds changing. I was either on the gas motor around 2.8MPH and a SI chart of 3 (on a scroll of 2 the DI wanks out with the white out lines we've seen in the past) AND if I was running the i-Pilot, it was SI chart speed of 1 and I was running 1.2-1.5 MPH.
LMK if you can't see these - I'll post separate links or PM/email to you-

This was 200/83:

This was 200:

I still prefer the 200 Khz - the 200/83 was off the TM & the other was off the gas motor, so they'll be a scroll speed diff....
LMK if any of that's useful for you - otherwise we'll wait for Kos & see what he says - I agree in BIG BROTHER "helping to save us from ourselves" too! :yikes
