Interested as well. I was glad when the Monsanto (Roundup) patent expired on the glyphosate. Much cheaper now that others are carrying it. I buy the glyphosate in the 2 1/2 gallon containers - 1/2 gallon mixes in my sprayer trailer that I pull.
My mom tried it, and it worked faster than roundup.
Sounds good Bruce. Vinegar will kill weeds and salt of any kind will do also, including fertilizer. I don't know about the dawn killing weeds but it works wonders on bugs. The Dawn may act as a sufactant which make the other ingredients stick to the leaves to be absorbed.

I have tried this, but.............with table salt and it did not work for me. Epson salt may work differently and I will try it since I already have the vinegar on hand.
The Dawn soap helps the concoction stay on the slick leaves of the plants better. The table salt worked on broad leaf plants, but not the Johnson grass. I spot spray
and spray around large boulders rather than weed eat. Got to find something cheap and effective. Too much to spray to use expensive weed killers. I've been told to
mix diesel with the concoction and it works. I'm game for that too.
I buy 2.5 gallons of generic round-up "glyphosate" for $55 at the co-op. You mix it 1.5 ounces per gallon. It makes 213 gallons of spray. Thats cheap enough. I bet 213 gallons of vinegar is a lot more than $55.
Well, I mixed up per directions and no positive results for my weeds. May have knocked down the clover, but nothing else that I can see.
You're right for us folks that have a lot of property to tend to. I have experienced using cheaper methods, but it only burns the weeds/grass. I apply mine in the Spring and it's good until I apply again in the Fall. It works slows, won't see anything for a week or more. When it's though, all is dead to the dirt. What Bruce posted may very well work for folks that live in town for use around the yard and their beds. The glyphosate that I mix up will kill the small trees that pop up from the nuts that drop off from the oaks, pecans, etc.Quote:
