A buck rub day

Well I got a chance recently to holler at a fellow .com fisherman. Buckrub and I got a late start but we found some biting fish. Buck was very green behind the ears but managed to catch some fish . I sat mainly in the front of the boat and had a ball watching him reel in the fish and tangle the lines. He was full of millions of questions and I thought I was being interrogated lol. I think he may have broke his record in catching fish that day. We fished a couple different bodies of water and found fish scattered. Buck got some good lessons on using electronics, rigging and catching fish. He told me I should give lessons and charge for them, I just chuckled. Buck was a pleasure to fish with and carried his weight with expenses too which was nice. We will go again in the future . Next time I am gonna work on him to keep bigger fish. He kept telling me you know what this fish is gonna taste like, crappie lol. I guess ya got to start somewhere and when you aren't used to catching fish they all look good lol. Enjoy the pix.

And.........I did catch somewhat bigger fish the day before, neener neener! I just caught only 6 of 'em (5 over my limit) with my old, slow methods. All that we caught fit in about the same size ziplock that those six did!!! But you heard me say over and over......"the small ones taste JUST like crappie"!!! And they do. Maybe better. Yeah, we probably shoulda thrown most of 'em back, I admit. :dono But Mama sure does like to eat crappie!

And I was serious about you giving electronics lessons. Most of "us" just have depthfinders. I have a Lowrance LMS-337 on the transom/console, and a Humminbird 768 on the trolling motor. The Lowrance will do multiple things, but only one at a time. I don't even know all that it will do. I imagine that's close to what most folks have, and comparing that setup to yours is like comparing a bicycle to the space shuttle!

The technology has exploded (with the price also!) and watching you using that unit had me scratching my head a lot of the time. But I do see how all that massive info can fit together and provide amazing amounts of useful data. And you know how to use it well, and go through it fast. If I were to spend what a Gen2 HDS12 or an Onix 10 cost, I'd dang sure want a detailed, hands-on training class somewhere, and I'd pay for it, and I bet others would too. I saw how much you enjoy just cruising and marking and looking.........you could do that and charge for 'training' and do a GREAT service. I can't afford that full type of setup (now) but they are being sold, and you're good at it, and you could make some money and do a service too. You really ought to think about it. :twocents

Again, I want to thank you for the trip, and as I said.......I've spent 40 years fishing for crappie one way only........and now I see there are at least five different ways, and the fish are not always where I've been fishing for them. I have much to mull over!!!

Hey nice hat bill lol. Yea they were eaters by Bills standards, they had a head and a tail lmbo. I let him keep whatever he wanted too but next time we are gonna step up his standards he hehehe. You are right I just love being on the water. Catching is secondary to me and I can have just as much fun watching someone catch a fish too. Bill also learned about the shade of my sportbrella. Man what a difference it can make on them hit summer days! As far as the electronics stuff goes I don't mind helping folks out just never thought about charging for that lol. I find most folks don't know how to use what they do have and that baffles me!

Looks like some real gooduns to me. They would have went right in the live well and then straight to the grease. Freezer is empty and crappie season is over. What to do!!!What to do!!!. Where is the panicked smilie? At least ya'll were fishing.

Better teach butt rub how to long arm small fish like Crappie Pro does so they look bigger.:biggrin Good attempt at four fish hold using what ya had to work with not talking about just the fish. :Rofl Hard to hide them fat fingers.:Rofl Atleast you could enjoy the afternoon unlike on Dardanelle full of water lice. JW , now you owe him a fish catching trip buddy.

I have a Lowrance 4x HDI on the bow of mine. Other than seeing bottom structure for the split second its on the screen(and still not sure exactly where it is in the water) and the beep beep for fish I still am not sure how it works or what I'm lookin at.

Well I can give on the water lessons for a reasonable price if ya need help
