Is it legal to place brush piles in Oklahoma lakes. Someone told me it was illegal on Tenkiller(corps lake). Is this true? Can you not place brush on corps lakes? Or can you not place brush at all?
thanks

I called the corp office and asked. I was told they would call me back if that was problem placing structure in the lake. I was going to use Honey Hole Trees by Pond King out of Gainesville Texas. NO one called me back so my guess is good to go.
well i guess i need to call corp office. I wonder about lakes that are corp
jdenny - the only rule/law regarding brushpiles is on page 8 of the 2014 Fishing Regulations. It states "It is unlawful to use and/or place into lakes and reservoirs of this state any container, including but not limited to drums, cans, tubs, boxes or barrels which attract, entice or lure fish into an open cavity within the container". There is no other mention of what can and cannot be placed into a resevoir in the state of Oklahoma. I would add that you would want to use common sense on the materials used for your fish habitat.
I would definitely contact them. I'm sure they are there are certain areas you can't place objects as well as certain types of material you can't place in the lake.
so i would assume that a concrete block with limbs attached would work. Could you attach them with metal wire like bailing wire or electric fence wire
As far as Corps lake you can place any type of structurethat is natural or manmade as long as it is not intended to in trap any fish.If it is a corps lake that post their brush piles on their web page then theywould like for you to give those coordinates to them so that all can share.

This law refers to barrels, etc. that used to be placed by noodlers. They were made illegal quite a few years ago, much to the chagrin of my old noodler buddy.
Thanks guys. I'm new here but have already gained lots of good info.
When placing your wood in the lake don't use bailing wire. It will rust in to within a year and be lost. I use telephone wire since it is copper and doesn't rust. Any hardware store will have this wire and being copper it's easy to tie. And yes it's legal to place wood in a corp lake. Only thing they frown on is cutting wood on their shoreline.......Ranger
Thanks guys I'm kinda new to crappie fishing but I have already learned a lot searching the forums
