Bayou Amy Report

Went to Bayou Amy for the first time yesterday afternoon. Got some crickets and bream fished. I went maybe 3-4 miles north of Henderson close to an old wooden bridge and fished some pretty banks. Caught about 20 bull bream and 7 small cats. Sorry no pics.

Do most people go North or South from Henderson? I went North. Had to go a ways to find deep banks. What does south of Henderson look like?

Never been to Bayou Amy, where is it and where do you launch? Thanks for the report.

I think the launch just opened across the levee from McGee's, and the other launches along the levee. I have been wondering what was in that canal as well.

There were about 5 trailers there at 1:00 pm when I passed. Looked like crappie boat size trailers too. Be glad when they finish paving the road to McGee's.

I see you live in Grand Prairie, La........Bayou Amy launch is at Henderson, La., just west (across the levee) from the Henderson swamp.....right at the West end of the 18 mile bridge.....

For the new launch into Bayou Amy you take the Henderson exit and head for the town of Henderson. At the end of the road is Pat's Restaurant on Bayou Amy. Take a right on the levee road after you cross the bayou like you are going to McGee's. It's not far from the turn. Maybe a mile I'm guessing. There are even toilets. How fancy is that?

The new launch is actually right after you turn.

Sure is safe

Stopped there on the way home to eat my sandwich. There were 6 trailers in the lot. That's the same as McGee's.

Once ya get down towards catahoula bayou Amy changes to bayou Alexander which run to lake dautrieve. You can launch into bayou Alexander in catahoula park and fish it. People like to fish the spawn around that area.

That area you talkin about is also called catahoula lake by the locals
