Nice job!
Looks like you are getting better prepared for that fish fry Nick!
Yea I can relax a little now a few more trips like that then I can go back to catch and release. I do have to say tho Walleye are so easy to clean. Even better when they hit the hot oil. Jim the guy fishing with me put out some Storm Lure that looked like a minnow and he was catching those big crappie on them and even a walleye.
Looks like Melvern is heating up for the walleys.....nice post and pic......and you even got 'ol handsome "hollywood" Ron in there! :highfive
Nice catch Nick.
better than Chief and I didm, we did catch a couple or 13plus slabs but turn them back
way to go Ron and Nick.
bd40 the last place you saw us we went north down that bank in 8 fow and hung a keeper there.
We tried again yesterday caught a bunch of shorts, quit early as we got cold.
Went to Melvern today and it was tuff fishing.Caught some shorts but no smallies which surprised me.Also, talked to guy fishing the bank on the west end who said we should have been there mid week he was throwing back 11" rotfl.Just my luck.Alot of walleye fisherman today.
Nice catch
Yeah Kansas Walleye association tourney today. Stopped bye the weight in I think 23lbs+ won it appeared to be a tough day as only about 10 boats out of around 40 had a limit.
We fished the tournament and the bite was spotty. If you figured out the pattern, you caught fish. Not nearly as many big fish like last year, but also only 4 fish were not released alive. Big fish for the tournament was 6.81lbs. Lots of shorts though. The lake should be in good shape for the next couple of years. We caught quite a few crappie, and some pushing 14-15", on the drop offs in 12-18ft. Just a thought for you guys looking for the keepers.
I fished the tourney yesterday and it was very spotty for us as well. We caught a limit on Saturday and ended up only finding one keeper on Sunday. That's how fishing goes I suppose. Did find some nice white bass and a few nice crappie throughout the weekend. Seemed like every brushpile we pulled over we immediately hooked up with a crappie. Like PT said, seemed like most of our crappie were in that depth range as well. It is a fun lake to fish as that was only our 4th time on the water there. Hope to fish it sometime other then being in a Tourney.
