sounds like a blast
Really jealous. It sounds like you had a great time at one of America's true gems. Good on you!
Wow.....that has to be a "trip of a lifetime"......it looks like a perfect vacation spot, somewhere you should put on your "must do" list...the food looks absolutely awesome, the facilities "first class" and the host people very accommodating.....the food would be worth the trip by itself whether you caught fish or not.....
Glad you had this opportunity Slab and thanks very much for sharing it with us.....excellent job on the pictures and narrative.....I felt like I was there....
This country has so much to offer....
Looks like a awesome place to visit. Been on my bucket list a long time and reading stories like this one makes me want to go even more. Great pics of the trip and looks like y'all had some awesome food while there :)
It must be tough, going to a beautiful spot and then having great food, a ferry trip(haven't seen one in the states), meeting interesting people and to top it off catching fish. Kinda makes one realize how blessed this nation and it's people are.--shu
What a fantastic trip with a great write up. It makes me want to go jump in my truck and head west. When I read an article like this it makes me wonder how many more hidden "Edens" there are we never hear of.
that was a trip
The food and the view are absolutely awesome at Blue Bank Resort - if you go to Reelfoot Lake that's where I would stay
It sounds like loads of fun. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
I want to go. Wonderful pix and story. The food looked great in a Cajun sort of way. The fishing looked fun and Red looked like a good guy to hang with. Invite him to a camp!! Mr. Kirkland is an imposing figure and reminds me of Nolan Ryan. Thanks Ed, the story was told in a way that I felt part of it. Can you adopt me? I going up to that area later this year, will have to swing by and see the lake, maybe dine at Mike's. Definitely going to visit Lou at Grizzly Jigs. Danny
WOW Ed, great story with wonderful pictures - I felt like I was there each step of the way, except I didn't get to taste that awesome lookin food. I have family in Tennessee but have never been to this area, next time I get up there we are going to check these places out. I have always wanted to fish Reelfoot anyways, now you have encouraged me to get there sooner. Thanks for sharin !!
Ed,
You had a great trip and fished with some fine folks. Blue Bank has some fine food and a great staff that will take care of you while you are there. I liked everything but the Coke drink box on the ferry. LOL!! I would have pushed it off in the river and put a Pepsi or Dr. Pepper drink box on there. :) Reelfoot is treasure and I'm proud to call it my home lake.
Lynn
Ed, When I rode that ferry the girl said "you might want to roll up your windows"We were still in the harbor and couldnt see the river. I in a Suberban and couldn't figure out why. When the first wave we hit on the river rolled over the hood and up the windshield I figured it out. Reelfoot is a great place and a must for all crappie fishermen. Great story. Bo
"
Very interesting, just might have to check it out.
WOW, what an awesome looking place! Not sure i could pack up and leave once i got there.
Great story, thanks for sharing, makes me really want to go there!
I am with you 100% my friend. I'm a diet Pepsi and Diet Dew guy myself. Dew's great cause it can even go down warm. Diet Pepsi has to be cold, cold. Part of the reason I said Coke Machine is cause I've been told that's what they call all soda/pop in the South. I woulda said "pop machine". But after all, this time it really was a Coke Machine. lol
Real nice post - Great pictures too
excellent post!
Sounds like ya'll had a blast, Reelfoot is one of the best crappie lakes in Tenn IMO.. and like Lynn glad to call it my home lake. Discovery Park is awesome too my cousin has a arrowhead collection on display up there its called "The Cat Corner Cash". His son found them while just digging in the dirt while he was planting a garden.
Thanks for sharing, seems you guys had a great trip.
We took a Saturday drive a while back over to Grizzly Jig and then up 55 and crossed the river on that ferry. We were driving by GPS too and thought we'd never get to the ferry once we left the highway! We were on farm roads, no way you could even call them county roads! Blue Bank is great and I'm glad y'all came down and stayed there. Reelfoot is a beautiful lake, without a doubt and even if the fish aren't biting good, there's so much to look at, it makes up for it.
Sounds like an adventure of a lifetime. Great hosts and great place to visit and activities to keep one busy.
Wow! What a way to experience Reelfoot Lake for the first time! As we are fond of saying here in Arkansas, "You can't hide money!" LOL. Thanks, Ed, for sharing that trip with us. Made me feel like I was there. Can't wait for a trip to Reelfoot myself.
What a great trip that must have been. Sounds like an excellent time for sure.
Wow that sounds like a dream trip Slab. The dreaded ferry trip turned out to be a great trip after all what you been thru getting there. Thanks for a great article buddy.
Slab sounds like you find the fun and entertainment wherever you seem to go. Looks like a fun and interesting trip as well, thanks for sharing with us
Great story Ed. I often see Billy on TV plugging the BlueBank resort. Your story makes me want to go there. I will have to put it on my bucket list for sure.
Thanks for sharing, what a trip.
Great article Ed. Blue Bank sounds like a destination for sure. You are so right about the stumps in the Foot...ask TomTom. Lynn, I was wondering if you would catch the Coke thing!
