I took my wife to church Sunday then planned on grilling some burgers then going to visit with my Mom. While I was grilling, I felt a deep pain in my left side. I had never experienced a kidney stone but had a really good idea that was what I felt. I ate a burger then decided to lay down and hope the pain went away. Not happening. About 3:30 my wife insisted we go to the ER.
After an hour wait with me hurting so bad I wanted to die, we finally got to see somebody. Had to answer a thousand questions, most of them repeated from the last person who came into the room with a computer. Finally they put an IV in and started me on pain and nausea medicine. Up until then I had just had a queasy stomach but no throwing up. A trip to x-ray for a cath scan and back to the room to wait for the results. Yep, 4mm stone. Before I was dismissed around 8, they gave me another dose of pain meds. I didn't make it home with my wife driving before the vomiting hit. Thanks goodness for zip-lock bags. A full 1 1/2 hours of dry heaves later, I got to bed and actually slept some. Soon after waking up this morning, the dry heaves have started again.
This really stinks!! Badbrad and Wilbur are here at the lake and I am wanting to hook up with both of them. Chaunc and his brother are going to be in town the end of the week. I've got to get this situation resolved but have a pretty good idea that things will work out when they work out. My impatience probably won't help.
I've probably not been real sympathetic with folks who have kidney stone problems in the past. How much pain can come from a tiny piece of something our body generates? I know 1st hand now and it really hurts to be me right now. Got to go talk to Ralph on the ceramic telephone.
