Embarrassing moments

Went fishing Lake Murray (Bush River) brought my fishing partner with me (wife). Weather over cast and drizzling most of the time perfect weather for fishing. I was fishing with jigs tipped with minnows four poles and she was fishing with 1 pole with double minnow rig. Got to my favorite spot put down the trolling motor started looking for the remote control, forgot the remote in the truck told the wife we have to go back and get it, she said AH just lets fish . That is not the embarrassing part.. Ok I used the wind for my trolling just drifting, about five minutes after we start here is the those words you hate to hear I GOT ONE she starts reeling in she is fighting a big fish, when she gets it to the boat she doesn’t have one fish has two crappie about a pound each on each hook. We went back started again here comes those words again I GOT ANOTHER FISH she got another crappie about a pound. As soon as I put the fish in the cooler one of my line went out before I could get to it the fish broke the line. That was that we went back home and she was on the phone the whole time telling everyone how she caught two fish on one line and all the fish. THAT’S THE EMBARRASSING PART. But I got her today we went again and I caught a 13 lb catfish but a soon as I put the fish in the cooler their goes those words again I GOT ONE she brought in at least a 10lb catfish, but I did catch two crappie, one white perch, and she also caught a white perch. So we caught a nice mess of fish.

No worries VMatt. My wife and daughter usually outcatches me.:) Congrats on the catches you guys had.

Matt sounds like a good trip. I can top your embarrassing moment. I took my boat out today to check out the new foot I had put on the motor and to check the Elite 7 since I had installed the latest update from Lowrance. I noticed I did not have any details on my map so I checked the chip in the DF and sure enough it was the blank SD that I had loaded the update on. So that meant the Navionics chip was left laying on the boat deck and was no where to be found. Best guess is on I 26 between Columbia and Orangeburg.
Which brings me to the question, "Did you sell your chip, cause I am in the market for one?????" :banghead

We all have those days and like most I enjoy seeing them pull the fish in. Thanks for the report :)

Always glad to bring the wife or anyone and they catch fish its a lot of fun for all, thanks for the post guys

forgetting to put the plug into the boat and fishing for awhile before realizing that the boat is heavy is one of my biggest moments. Thank God for the bilge pump and getting back to the dock to pull it out and put the plug back in. Another one is I fell off a floating dock when I was younger because the dog saw a fish in the water took off after it and pulled me into the water. When my dad grabbed the chain the dog still had the fish in his mouth about drowning himself to death before letting go. I got completely soaked shoes and all.

lol - I've done that one. Was with a buddy - fishing for a while, and noticed water pooling in the boat and it was sitting low....yeah - I forgot to put the plug in. And my bilge pump wasn't working. So I jump in the water and put the plug in - praying I wouldn't drop it.

Then I hot wired the pump to clear out the water and went back to fishing :)

How about stepping off the bow of the boat with the intent of tying it up and missing the dock? Water sure is cold in Febuary on Lake Wateree. Nuff said.

How about throwing a floating net in the water and watch it go down like a 1974 Chevy

how about putting a nice walleye in the live net, telling the wife to put it in the water, watching the live net slowly sink out of sight. wife did not tie the live net to boat. was not all lost. dropped a lure and was able to snag the live net.

Don't feel bad about that plug thing happened to me twice once when i was in a bass tournament, buddy launch my bass boat in the water went around to wait for him my feet was sloshing in water, I new what happened no plug, kicked on the bilge pump yelled at every one to get my boat back in the water and back on my trailer drain it, plug in and back in the water. Needless to say I was red face for a few hours 30 fishermen laughing their butt of at me. BUT i got them back i won the tournament with a two lb ten oz bass. IT WASN'T A BAD DAY AFTER ALL. The other time was when i went fishing with the wife. Now the first thing she says when I get in the truck DID YOU PUT THE PLUG IN. I love her dearly. Oh for you guys that own small boats, this happened to me a long time ago. This guy was selling this run about with handle control stick steer in the back of the boat, went for a test ride and he forgot to put the plug, water was coming in, he said NO PROBLEM he kicked the motor in gear and went a good speed and in circles and almost completely emptied the boat of water stopped the boat and leaned over the side and put plug it with not that much water in the boat. Just FYI for you

Thanks for the wife story sounds like you still had fun. I have one. 4 years ago the perch fishing was red hot. Wife, Grandson and I stop at our favorite spot. I have to bait and take the fish off of her pole. Well from the first drop of bait down for the next 90 minutes all I was doing was taking fish off of her line and baiting her hooks. After about 60 minutes of this she says to Grandson our "baitboy" sure is slow. :yikes I said just enjoy your moment. :fish
