Caught this guy on the roanoke river.A first for me there.Talked to a guide who said they had cught one also.

I have about 10-12 dozen large shiners in my tank that I am not gonna use.I was going back this weekend but the plan didnt come togather.If anyone wants them they are free.,they range from 3 to 6 inches.

Huh?! That's weird. Are there any in lake Gaston? Looks like you had a good trip this year though.
How big was it sure its not a white bass but u are right sure looks like a hybrid to me

I Don't know if that was a hybrid or not. I have caught them in the sound like that as they were coming in from the ocean to go to the roanoke and have thought the same thing. I just don't think they are supposed to be out there. I could be dead wrong. They match the description perfectly with the broken bars. I just don't know about it.:donoCF
Thanks for putting that picture up BC, it looks just like the one we caught about 3 years ago. We sure had a blast up there this year.

At times striper will have some broken lines like this one pictured here caught at Hartwell but the hybrid is shaped like a football like my second pic. I would say the top fish is a hybrid but that bottom fish does look like a white bass or a striper? How long was the bottom fish Sam.

Guys,the fish was right at 18 inches long.I posted the second picture with a smaller striper underneath the hybrid as to give you a visual.I to have caught stripers with broken lines in the roanoke river and a couple of lakes.Look at the"shape" of the hybrid,he is half as tall as he is long.,Like stumphunter said,,football shaped.

This is pretty interesting. I could be catching some that are hybrids and didn't even know it. will have to look into it more with marine fisheries whenever I see them again.CF
Caught one there Weds about the same size...I was doubting myself until you posted this but I agree with you that is a hybrid
