Headed to cave run Wednesday any reports
High and muddy be that way for awhile we had 4" of rain yesterday and Tuesday the main lake wont be bad for a couple of days until the muddy water gets down there. The high water will make for good fishing once it clears up a little. They were really turning on before all the rain. Water level is 4' over summer pool and rising.
Thanks for the info haven't been there in probably 5 years.... is longbow still hot
I fish longbow and beaver a lot I live 8 miles from the leatherwood ramp it's been pretty good this spring if you haven't been there in 5yrs you will notice the number of black crappie has really gone up. we usually catch 3 to 1 black crappie over whites the fish are also healthier than they ever been. All the white bass died out last spring and I think it has really helped the crappie. The lake is high and there are thousands of stumps just under the surface be sure and stay between the buoys when running your big engine. Take care and good luck if your up that way and you see a feller in an old bass tracker with a 90 hp mercury jerking out crappie come over and say hi.
Thanks a ton I appreciate it
I just got back, It was my first time there. I tried everything I had in the box, but just could not get them to bite. Best of luck to you. JC
Thanks ..
With the lake being 6ft over Summer Pool ... it wouldn't surprise me if the Cave Run Crappie have done the same thing as a lot of the other lake's Crappie have done -- pulled out from the bank & suspending in deep water.
You should be able to get a water level & surface temp reading by calling 1-606-783-7001

I fished yesterday until about noon when the wind ran me off the water. I was catching a lot of fish sallow but most were smaller males I did manage to catch 4 big females. The lake is high but it is still pretty clear. I am heading back In the morning I expect to catch them in the thickest stuff I can find close to the banks. I will be back on here tomorrow evening to let you know how it went.

That's the one I normally look at for water temps & Oxygen levels/depth. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated since Oct 2013 :banghead ... so that's why I put the phone number down !! For water levels only, I use this site : http://155.80.93.250/wc/reports/lkreport.html And if you click on the current level (blue highlighted number), it takes you to a graph of the past year's water levels & rain history.

Thanks fellas boat and truck are gassed and ready to roll at 7 am
Like I said, I couldn't get them to go but, I did mark tons of fish and was able to jig up a few. I will try to tell you the area that I marked them all. If you come out of Caney creek and fish along that north west rock wall that heads to the dam you would be in the area. I was about 20 to 30 feet off the wall in 20 to 35 feet of water and marked hundreds of fish swiming along about 5 foot off the bottom. The only ones I pulled came off jiging a red jig head with a pink body and white sparkle tail. Best of luck to you. JC
