Welcome to the forum! Haven't heard of the place myself.
It's just north of Sterlington. Mostly known for bass but it looks like it would be loaded with specs. Parents just closed on a house there today. If they are in there, my dad will have them all named in a week.
Welcome. I've fished it some, VERY tough place to fish. It's got a deep channel all the way through it. I've caught some blacks around lay downs on the upper part and you'll just have to move around till you find the whites in the channel. I've caught the whites in an area good one year and went back years following that and not done squat. Never crappie fished it much in spring and summer, usually the only spring report you'll hear is they bit two weeks ago. Unless it's winter I'd would focus efforts on learning the Ouachita river there is some really good fishing and several river lakes just south of sterlington
Bayou Bartholomew is the longest bayou in the world I've heard. I think it heads up around Pine Bluff. I fished it a few times years ago without much success. It's a tuff nutt.
Dang bringing back memories for this native of nela now a long ms resident. As a kid we fished and swimmed that place every day in the summer. I grew up off bayou desired.
Bartholomew Lake, known by most as the "Cutoff" is a lake off of Bayou Bartholomew. A levee separates the lake from the bayou. Water is pumped into the lake from the bayou to provide drinking water for the city of Monroe. Gates allow the water to flow under Hwy 165 into Bayou Desiard where they get the drinking water.
My dad will be retired and fish every day he's not sick. I'll have to keep y'all posted on how he does out there. We run into one resident that fishes there a lot. He said that the chinquapin fishing is about to get good, and he's gonna show me a place or two.
Done a bunch of bass fishing out there, but never crappie. Always thought about trying them, but have yet to get around to it.
Went out there once this year about a month ago and caught one perch and one bass
About to try them this afternoon.
I am looking forward to the posts. The fishing Calendar is in the Excelent range
I caught about an inch of rain 10 minutes after launch
I had made a post that somehow didnt wind up showing here. There is a good launch site on the North end. There are very few camps there and the water is stained where it is pumped in. it looks like a great place for Trot Lines
