Any one on here use Southern Crappie Rods? I know Wiskers is big on them just wanting to get more input on them. I am looking mainly at the 12ft but considering the 14ft. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have been using them for several years. I think Wiskers first saw them at my shop. I have been very happy with them and have used them in every application I fish (spider rig, trolling cranks, longline, boards) and they have yet to fail me. I have 8, 10, 12,and 14 footers. Great guy to deal with and he has supported our fall get togethers each year.
mrdux how heavy are they?
I have the 14's and that is what I would recommend. Love them. They are as light as most other poles I have used and lighter than my PST's. Strong also. Friend of mine wanted to check mine out so I pulled one out of the rack, stuck it in a holder and grabbed the line, pulled it around into a perfect U with him screaming at me that I was going to break it. Nope, he borrowed them for a few days and lifted some 2 lb er's in the boat without a net. Ordered himself a set.
Just landed a 6lb 7oz hybrid on one of my 12' southern crappie rods. They are a very well built rod, not too heavy with plenty of backbone. I ordered 4 to try, and will be ordering more. Highly recommend them.
They are a little heavier than some I have but would not buy anything else again. Great rods & I am fixing to replace my other rods with them.
No need for multi purpose rods, they work great for every thing!
Well my mind is pretty much made up. The rig I fish all the time is a blade rig with an 1.5oz bank sinker will the rods carry that weight well?
I just started using 4 of the 16'. Like them very much. also have B&M and Mr Crappie 12 and 14'. Like the Southern poles better.

I have 6 of the 14' and an assortment of the other sizes. Can't beat the rods. I've wrapped them around the hull of the boat before and not break them. Ed is a stand up guy to deal with as well.
I have had mine for a little over a month and fished every day. They are very good. I have the 14 footers and I spider rig with them. I wouldn't want to jig with them. To heavy. 12 footers might be better. very well built rod and I am very happy with mine.
where can I buy some? is there a web page or some contact info somewhere ?
thanks guys

You guys have no idea how happy I am that folks are starting to look into Ed's rods. I have no connection to his company and pay the same prices as anybody else for his stuff. He has been so gracious to help us by donating some rods over the last few years for our fall KY Lake get-together. Other companies have also donated and I think we should buy from all the companies who help us out. Ed just has a really good product at great prices and is a good guy to deal with. I really want to see him do well in our state/area.
Same here mrdux. I even managed to break some tips on a couple of rods. Break a BnM rod and you're gonna pay considerably more to replace the broke section than what Ed charges.
Thanks for the information, I was about to order a couple of rods. These look good and the slightly stiffer aspect I have read about here is something I typically like. Once question I have is about the first eye, is big like typically seen with a spinning reel? Or is more like a micro eye in progressive sizes all the way up/down?
Thanks!
The 1st eye is more like a casting rod than a spinning rod.
I ordered 4 of the 14' rods last month and shipping was 15 bucks. Had em in 3 days. Can't beat thatm
Mr Duke says shipping is a flat $15 (& more for the 7ft 1pc rods) in the video !!
I did a faux order and shipping comes out $15 for 2pc/3pc rods .... $25 for a 7' 1pc rod.
But you're right about shipping 4 rods costing the same as 1 rod (as far as shipping costs go) !! It's still a flat $15 shipping for 4 rods or 1 rod (other than the 7' 1pc rod).

I just ordered 10 of them today! 8 of em' 14' and 2 of em 16' and 2 xtra rod tips and shipping was $15.00.
That is some awesome pricing on the shipping and I love that he has extra tips. That is why I am need of a couple of rods right now. And his prices on everything is right.
I ran a pair of my 12 footers today running planer boards with heavy roadrunners in really rough water. They had some bend but nowhere near enough to cause me to consider putting them back in the rack.
Ordered a couple late last night, Will give thema try and see if I like them. If so, I will probably order somemore at a later date.
I have used the several times spider rigging because that's what Wisker's runs.
