Doing any good there lately?
not at all. Went for 5 days this past week on the east side of the lake and caught only a few dinks each time. Spider rigged, tight lining, bobbers up against stumps..nothing worked for us.
Had good luck Friday and Saturday. Long lining curly tails. Biggest was 13". I think it will be a little bit before spawn. Caught very few males with there tuxes on. Some of females didn't have that many eggs yet.
I was there tues and wed with 3 other boats it was slow bonus 21 inch walleye and some nice cats helped but crappie were hard to find

they could have been stripers I didn t look real close
has any one heard where yellow bass evolved from white bass mix or something else
Was told they were mixed in with a load of walleye fry. Doesn't mean that is true. I caught my biggest ever last week, 8 inches. If they would all get the size I wouldn't hate them.
oh I ve caught them 14 inches long out of eagle creek 5 years ago and Monroe in early 70 s just wondered where they came from originally

Years ago there were guys here locally that went to reelfoot targeting the yellow bass. They do make a tasty filet and a good fighter for their size.
I heard that about reels foot but how did they get in reels foot they are tasty
Reelfoot was formed by the New Madrid earthquake in 1811-12. Don't think it was ever stocked,,but formed and filled by the Mississppi backing up cause of the earthquake then. Has over 100 species of fish in it. Yellow Bass probably got into there then I am guessing. I have fished it quite a few times..duck and goose hunted it several times,,and deer hunted it once. Hit it right and its awesome fishing. Same for duck.
A very unique lake we used to go there annually. My very best day crappie fishing was there the day started off slow then I caught two 15 1/2" slabs on back to back casts to a cypress tree that had toppled over with a jig that I hand tied. We ended up with 43 that day all of them slabs lots of 13" to 15" fish smallest fish we kept was 11. I was like pinch me I must be dreaming. We always loved the lake and how scenic it is with the cypress growing in the middle of the lake. I must admit though we also had more tough days than good days there.
