anyone have any info on EF? condition of water? catching anything?
I haven't been on the lake in a few weeks but the water coming out of the dam still has pretty good color to it so I would assume it's still at least little murky. We haven't had much in the way of rain so it has to be clearing. It's not flooded any more.
I went last Saturday and the water was a bit high but not too bad. The ramps were a mess. The water was very muddy. However, I'll bet its in good shape by now. I'm spending 2 days there next Wed-Thurs. Can't wait.
went today and the water was still stained. kept about a dozen good sized ones, a few having eggs. still didn't seem to have a great pattern. most were caught shallow under bobbers, a few caught spider rigging about 10 to 12 foot deep. also caught some dinks as well and always a couple small bass and a few 2 to 3lb catfish.
Attachment 159420 Fished sat. First time on the lake this yr. caught 57 crappie. Kept 18. Did catch some good fish. Covered a ton of water casting jigs. The fish I was fishing for was holding in 8' right on the slope.
Good day. I've got a buddy going there in the morning. He's supposed to call me with his own report.
I went out with my 7 year old daughter on Friday and Sunday for 3-4 hours each day. We caught a total of 15 fish with 6 keepers fishing with minnows on a jig/bobber in 5-10 feet of water. On Sunday, my daughter caught all of the fish (partly luck but partly because I spent a lot of my time fixing lost hooks). She is already asking if we can go again next weekend!
I am fairly new to crappie fishing and East Fork so I should probably be happy with our success but I can't help but be jealous when I see reports of 60 crappie. Great job. Is the difference in success more exact location, bait, or technique? I am guessing all 3 in that order? We did spend half the first day trying locations that yielded nothing so we were pretty happy when we found a place that got us a few fish.
Welcome to the site Jaspersk

I would say so. Once you find them they're pretty easy to catch.
Nice fish Trackman
Any of you guys see that horse that went over the "cliff" across from the Bantam Ramp Saturday evening?
I didn't go over there but there we a couple of boats full of "Waterboys" and a few other boats. They had to put the horse to sleep of course. Pretty sad really.
I don't know how they did it but it was gone on Sunday afternoon.
Didn't see the horse but was at the ramp when they were getting ready.
Jaspersk great job on getting the little one out. Just keep on keeping on and you will find them. When you catch em just duplicate and keep going. EF can be tough to start on I think. It has alot alot of visual cover. Just sort through and find a pattern.
Best of luck.
May be out tomorrow if I get rained out from work. One can only hope.
Ran into water patrol when we there yesterday which i happen to know one of them. He was telling me about the horse incident and that it took like 6 hours to get it out of there.
Anyone here try EF at night. I caught good size ones all night either by the ramp at the dam along the rock shore, or at the State Park boat ramp for three years in a row. Last year they were all dinks everytime I went. This year at Kiser Lake and some other choice spots at night I've been doing very well using an Arkie Shineee Hineee, medium size and orange chartreuse color. The only other jig that worked was a black jig with black maribou and strands of gold glittery thread on it. The Shinee Hineee is my favorate this year so far. All the crappie I catch at night are black crappie.
Fished EF today from 10-1. Caught a bunch. Got off the lake before it got to windy and to celebrate my daughter 5 B day. The bite has picked up. Caught a few males sporting spawning colors. Caught few more females than I did sat. But i was fishing fast. Caught alot of short fish.
Attachment 160083Limit today pretty easy. 3-8' casting jigs as usual.
Nice mess Trackman, looks good.
3 of us went Thursday, 4/24, and caught over 100 crappie. Nothing real big. Not a single fish measured 11". But lots of keeper size (we didn't keep any). Blacks are very shallow and are dark colored. Whites are just off shore. Every fish we caught was in less than 7' of water.
That is a bad day.
That would suck....big time.
Got out today about 1030. Right as soon as storm passed I was in the water. Was on the trailer and leaving by 2. Got a limit pretty easy today. I am loving these rain days off work
What kind of shape is the lake in now after this rain. Looking for someplace to possibly go this weekend. The river & tribs are blown out & muddy.
Lake was def on its way up and rising fast as of yesterday...... I decided to switch it up and to some channel cat fishing.... Had a blast!! Not sure how many we caught but it was fun........ Main parts of lake were still very good color as of yesterday but the creeks were rolling mud in so I'm not sure what the weekend will be like.....
As of yesterday, the water was up about 3 1/2 or 4 feet. They were pulling it pretty hard and the outlet water didn't look too bad but that will help pull the mud into the lake. I would think all the SW Ohio lakes are fish-able. What day are you fishing?
Not sure what day. May take the weekend off and do honeydos
I plan on going Sunday. Think it would clear up by then?
the bite is on, fished fri 2nd & sun 4th, lower end, fish are on the banks 2-4 deep feet...
Glad to see somebody was fishing.
What size are the crappie?
big fish @ sundays tournament was 1.41lb
2nd was 1.25 3rd 1.15
