Does anyone know if there is a company other than hummingbird that repairs hummingbird units? To heck with the warranty, I just want this junk fixed. Mine has spent more time in the mail than it has on the boat. Thanks for any help.

What you got and how much you want for it? What's wrong with it?
Maybe you should ask Humminbird if there is any kind of "lemon law". A unit that has been back and forth that many times should be put down by the mfg and you should get a new unit that works
Humminbird does not buy back units, believe me I have asked. The one I have now is a new unit because they couldn't fix the other new one I had. Crappielimits I have to much respect for my fellow man than to try and pawn off something like this knowing its bad. I'm just really tired of hearing, "It will need to be sent back".
The best repair I know is Lowrance touch.
Too bad you are so far away
I've had several of them apart over the years
No problem! I think you may want to try it on someone else's set up where the same unit is working. I have seen where it was in the boats wiring. Are you using the transducer that came with it? I have dealt with Humminbird for years and they always took care of fisherman. I wish you were close enough to bring them the boat and unit.
I agree with crappielimits. Gotta be something in the way it's installed, in the settings, the wiring or half a dozen other things. If HB checked it out in their lab and sent it back . . . . odds are it's working.
What issues are you having? Can you post pics of the problem? Pics of where the transducer is installed? Which unit is it?
I have three other stations on the boat and other units that works fine at the station where the faulty unit lives. As I have told the factory folks its not always the customers fault. The last unit was sent back and finally Bill Carson was included in the mix and one of his staff sent another unit. The unit was having complete screen collapse and the top notch team at hummingbird could not seem to find it. The new unit has a totally different problem. I just wanted to know if there was someone out there besides hummingbird that works on these things. Thanks for the help.
To answer your original question, I have searched high and low for some place that does depth finder repair. Found only one guy in florida on eBay that said he could repair some if he had spare parts. Never tried him.just threw away the older units and got a couple of more used ones. Haven't had a minutes trouble with my 998. If you would describe your problem some of these guys may actually be able to help.
Try this guy. He may be able to help you. I'm sure Doug has seen it all.

That's what we been trying to do. I think he may be using a HD SI transducer with a non side imaging unit. It could just be a settings issue, such as transducer selection. You can not just snap the unit where another one was any more. As far as the GPS, it's the same for all manufacturers and Humminbird developed a heading sensor to help those who need this feature, without charging the majority who do not. I personally don't want to pay the extra 200 and if I did feel the need, I would not pay the extra on a second unit. I would just network the 2 together. Two units on same boat would make me think it may be a installation problem, such as low voltage or maybe trolling motor interference. Just want to help it is some thing simple. We just have to locate the problem.
I would not go in or let anyone into that unit it will void a 3 year warranty as Eufala is the only warranty center. Please try it on someone's boat who has the exact same unit working there. Or explain exactly your problem with pictures here. Make sure the unit is wired directly to the battery, and originally packaged transducer is being used. A trolling motor will give interference. We really want to help.
If you are being as co-operative with HB as you are on this thread......I kinda understand why they haven't been able to get it resolved.
If they can't find a problem with one unit, but go ahead and replace it and then you have a problem with the new unit too.....it is probably a voltage or other installation issue. If the 2nd unit has a different symptom, it is most likely a power issue of some sort.
