Any of you guys that run bay boats center consoles, I am looking for some shopping help. Im looking for something I can use in bigger choppier saltwater areas, but still take to Henderson and other freshwater lakes. Something on the lower/middle end of the price spectrum. Any name brands come to mind?

I have a 19' NauticStar. Really thought I would hate going from years and years of bass rigs to this, but I really don't mind fishing out of it at all.
G3 is what I went with. Enjoyed every minute of it. Bay dlx 20 with a yami 150 4 stroke
I like center consoles but if you ever fish under and close to low hanging trees they are a handicap then . I had to learn the hard way ,always hung in trees. For open water they are great.

If your talkin saltwater and sloppy get one made for it not altered to handle it occasionally. Maverick, Hewes, Scout, Key West, Cobia, Egret, East Cape to name a few.
I have the Xpress 20' H20B and fish Henderson all the time. She drafts in about 12" of water. The only problem is, as mentioned, low tree limbs and trees less than 95" apart. I haven't tried Cow island lake yet, waiting for the water to rise. I switched from a bass boat so I can fish 360 degrees around the boat and still have room for an ice chest. (65 gal)

What size boat your looking at and budget range u want to stay with in
I looked at center console boats, nice to be able to move around, but need/want my storage space. I have lots of stuff and I like my stuff.
Im my 2104 frontier I have an ice chest. 4 life jackets cca tackle bag and bait basket in my front compartment
2 rod lockers on sides
Storage under the lean post
Storage under the console. And storage under 2 flip up seats and storage behind the flip up seats
As for size Im guessing 18-20ish, and anywheres from 8-15 grand (looking to buy used)Quote:

I have room for a dozen 7 1/2' rods just inside one of the rod lockers. There's six upright rod holders on the comsole. Plus there's storage inside the center console, and the livewell behind the console is where I keep 2 igloo coolers for drinks and food.
Nice rig.
That's real nice. The center console boats that I looked at didn't have the raised deck up front for storage, etc. I like what you have.

I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on this thread. I have a 2006 20' bay boat that I have used on the LA cost since I purchased it. A couple of years ago I started spider rigging and find that I love the bay boat for this type of fishing. Agreed if you are fishing timber with low hanging limbs it could be a problem but other wise I think this style boat beats all others. Plenty of floor space, plenty of storage and when you stay out a little longer than you should in bad weather the bay boat hull sure feels safe when making your run back to the launch if the wind is howling.
