A buddy asked me a question about an on-board charger the other day and I wasn't sure what to tell him. When your boat is stored away for the season, do you keep your batteries plugged in the whole time?

The only time mine is unplugged is when I am fishing or on the road.
I would if my storage location had power. Other than that its always plugged in
Mine is plugged in every chance I can get.
I'm like CatFan. If it ain't moving it's plugged in.
ditto to what everyone else has said.
Yep , I keep mine plugged in all the time. If it's not maintenance free check the water every once in awhile.
Thanks for the input guys.
Plug mine in as soon as I get home unplug when I go the next time.
Don't let Birdman fool you. With his money, when his battery gets low he just buys a new one.
Plugged in all the time.
I keep mine plugged in all year long you never know when youll have open water lol
With all the power outages/surges we get I don't keep mine plugged in all the time. I'll be installing a GFCI on a separate circuit so that I can, though.
I keep mine plugged in all the time as well.
Storm's can blow up real quick like. Lightning, power surges. I don't keep mine plugged in all the time. Never had a problem with battery's not being charged. I Plug it in Every time I get home from the lake and then again the day before I go again.
Your going to get mixed opinions on this topic. I've heard horror stories no matter which you do it. I personally leave mine plugged in as much as possible. My charger switches to maintenance mode once they have reached full charge. I also use a surge protector similar to one you use to protect other expensive electronics in the house.
The chargers are so smart today they are made not to harm the batteries. I just leave it plugged in till I'm ready to go
Plug it in Plug it in

a good one will have a surge protector on it remember to turn off breakers for main and trolling motor.
I have an onboard charger but only use it at certain times. I have a Multi Bank Battery Tender screwed to my back garage wall and if the boat is in the garage it is hooked up.
