jig heads
I've been tying some 1/16 and 1/32 jigs from jig heads I had in random boxes. For you guys who do not pour your own, where do you get your jig heads? Looking for some with collar and some without collar. I like the look of the sickle hook.
Seen a few on ebay, not sure if pricing is right or not. Thought I'd check with the experts here first :biggrin

Several guys on here have them, I know BoBo has some and usually I get mine from Grousefly on here. Also Crazy Angler has some I believe. Feel sure some others will post a reply to your thread!

Although I pour my own, occasionally I want something I cannot cast (no mold) I'll trade some other casters first choice, If I cannot find a trade I'll go ebay,
Otherwise, there are several vendors
Crazy Angler, Grandpa Bobs, TCI Fishing Lures, FishHunter775 tackle.
around $15/100 including shipping is about right for the sizes you are looking for. BOLO for off brand hooks. you may find them cheaper but they break rather than bend or are dull and difficult to sharpen. A decent vendor will name the hook being used. Eagle Claw, Mustad, Matzuo (Sickle Hook), Owner, Gamatsu (pricey). Sometimes it requires a bit of planning on your end. Grandpa Bobs has probably the best prices and worst shipping around. If you do not mind waiting and doing a bunch of follow up, is a great source. If you are impatient, you will be better served by the other vendors.

Thanks guys, I may try to PM some of the members that you've mentioned and see what they can do. When I do order, I want some to tie jigs with, and also want some with collars for plastics. Got a few places where shooting docks tends to get the skunk out of the boat.

Get with Bobo greybeard on here my opinion he has the best hooks. Can make you just about anything you want. Sickle hook is the way to go. DO NOT BUY FROM GRANDPA BOB!!!!! You might get your order in the fall if you order now.

Bobo and Crazy Angler ,two terrific suppliers for me!!

I second Redge's comment.

Nightprowler on here has been good to me....Great Pill Heads

I'll give Bobo Greybeard a PM, see what I can afford. I've seen several "warnings" about grandpa bobs. Not going that route.
Again, thanks guys!

I get a lot of mine off of Ebay. Even my new mold came from there hooks , and all. I couldn't pass it up for 20 bucks. Minnow head jigs it pours 3-1/6 and 3- 1/32 at a time. I really needed it for my soft plastics good jigs were getting pricy. I buy all my 1/64, and smaller jigs on there. That's my next project in molds. I tie over a hundred 1/64 oz. heads every year.
-
Won't be worth it. I tried pouring 1/100-1/64 and it was too much hassle. I also buy them on ebay. This winter I scored a bunch with VMC hooks for $8/100. I've tied about 140 1/64 heads for myself and friends in the past week and a half. Not worth my time to pour when I can buy them for that cheap.

Does anyone sell a true 3/32 round or minnow head with no collar and a #4 sickle hook? I would like to have some just because.
-
I've seen a lot of molds for the 3/32 round head jigs the last couple of days. I couldn't tell u how true they are, and all looked collared to me. I was just cruzin some mold sits on the net. That was the first time I had seen that size in years. I was looking for Ice fishing jig molds because I like some of there shapes. Yea I know good luck with that one right.
