Fished out of my kayak in Bluestone during the rain on Sunday. Was a real good test for my Gortex rain gear. I was very comfortable except my hands especially with wet conditions. Anybody have ideas on gloves that protect but still have good feelings in the fingers ?? O yea report...only had 6 crappie 10-12" and a 22" striper while trolling jig minnow combo. Lost a couple of good fish including a real heavy one at the boat. Forgot my landing net at home. FB
gloves are for girls cant do nothing with them on thats why the make pockets..

I don't go in the rain much anymore- gettn too old- but when I did used to by them cheep stretch fishn gloves that look like the fingers & palms been dipped in rubber- they used to be like 1-2 dollars a pair so id take 5 or 6 pairs with me & when they get too wet & cold just switch to a new pair
I'd say neoprene . . . they provide a good grip and keep you relatively warm, but not much good for fine motor skills like knot tying and such.Quote:

Neoprene will freeze your fingertips and make them much colder than regular wool gloves. I dont have an explaination for why, just know from plenty of experience picking up decoys with neoprene gloves on. I fish with glacier gloves. they are very warm for as thin as they are and theyre waterproof. you will need to take them off to tie knots and such, but I believe you would have to take any gloves off for that type of thing.
I've never found gloves that could do both. A good pair of insulated gloves can help between spots, but when you're fishing, any kind of glove will be in the way. Try one of the chemical hand warmer products on the unbearable days. Put one or two in each coat pocket and warm your hands when your fingers get numb.Quote:

With hand warmers the first bit of moisture hits them and they won't work. I'd say keep a pair for motoring in and out (or paddling) but try to rough it, keep a towel in your coat pockets to stuff your hands in while fishing.
That's what I've always done since I don't like wearing gloves while fishing. A large towel or rag in each coat pocket. It works for me.Quote:

Check out duck hunting gloves. THey use em to put decoys out. Should work. Still dont think you are gonna be able to tie a knot with em though.

I use the Cabela's Guidewear fingerless gloves and the ragg wool fingerless gloves that they also sale. The Guidewear are made from WindStopper material and the wool gloves keep ya warm even when wet. If its windy I use the Guidewear, raining I go with the wool.
