I went today and fished the lower basin stayed in 13 to 15 fow about 10.5 to 12.5 deep. It was kinda slow for me but ok I kept 17 and only threw back one. They weren't real big fish but were mainly in the 11 to 12 inch range.
I fished Kirby's pocket area and we tried jigging the trees, stems and ditches with no luck. We also tried trolling and my dad caught 1 stripe. I talked to several folks today who fished were I did and the lower basin and did not have any luck today. Minner sounds like you got in the right spot. Glad you got some because I sure would have loved too.
Hope you have a good trip! Sorry I couldn't tell you they were jumping in the boat.
Gonna try and go for a lil while tomorrow afternoon, Ill try to give a report when I get home and hopefully it'll be a good one:)
I hope you wear them out!!
Hope you do well . Please save me a few . Coming down in 23 days, 8 hrs. , 20 min. and 42 sec. :fish Norm
I would love to hear a report as well. Fishing has been tough so far this year for me and I have my Pops coming down next week. If I don't put him on some crappie I am in big trouble :)
I'll be fishing a few afternoons next week as turkey season gets wound up. The fish elsewhere are running late this year by 2-3 weeks and I figure Reelfoot will follow suit. I like catching them when I'm wearing a tshirt rather than a pair of coveralls anyway!
I hear ya Trey been worst winter into spring I've had in a long time. I'm use to getting 20 to a limit this time of year but guess water temps are still a lil cool, It was 49.6 when I left today with warmer temps in the foresast maybe it'll get right next week
I've been fishing about 160 miles south of Reelfoot. The water down there is just getting into the upper 50's. Reelfoot will get there, it's just going to be late this year.
That is for sure!!!
We're headed down on the 10th, hopefully they'll be bitin like alligators by then.
They are starting to bite a lil better by then you should catch some fish, just hope you can get a day when the wind isn't howling 20mph. But I guess if it is you can always go over to kirbys and hide from it. tight lines and good luck!!
BigD has it right. Fishing had been getting progressively better. I've been putting in at Kirby lately in hopes of getting away from the giant fleet in the lower blue. Been doing pretty good and catching good slabs, when the yanks aren't running around wide open like a bunch of dummies.
Should be a little fresh water coming in after last night!
I put in at Kirby last sunday fished for a few hours and didn't catch anything. Did see someone in a fiberglass bass boat running wide open...had to be doing at least 40mph.
I hope he's got boat insurance!! LOL:Rofl
Must have been a local or someone that knew the race track really well. Thats the only place on the lake that i ever open mine up although I do slow down if someone is fishing close unlike most that run the track and ditches.
well the fishin trip was great. but the weather wasnt. we fished three days with one day lost cuz of mother nature. but we did get em on that friday. my buddy gtojoe came up from georgia and he was able to put us on the fish. spider riggin in 16 ft of water right off the bottom. guys around us were wondering what we were using. i told them, that we had a great friend who knew where to find them. we sure did! caught around 50 in about 4 hrs. glad we got em then. cuz the next day the weather kept us in on a 10 hr game of cards and beer. thats what fishin is all about. good friends and great times. cant wait to do it all over again next year. go get em boys!
Our trip to the foot. Had a great time with great friends! Love that lake! Little slice of heaven...
Great report hair jigs!
Sounds and looks like ya'll had a good trip hj. Congrats:) Lynn thats where I've put in the last five times that i have fished the foot and i cannot count how many boats have put in and took off across the lake wide open or come in wide open. With my luck i wouldn't have a motor on my boat. I just ease in and out and tick two or three stumps everytime.
Glad y'all had a great time and caught some fish!
Glad to see ya'll got some nice fish. Looks like it was a little chilly out on the water. We're heading down in 2 weeks (wives wouldn't let us go Easter) and staying at Eaglenest. I think we will be hitting 'em just right so we won't have to be as smart or work as hard as hard as you guys.
Nice pictures. Glad you had fun.
Awesome glad y'all got on em!
