Mrs DP and I did a little concert at a luncheon in a Baptist church the other day. An old gentleman asked me if I did any "them new praise songs". I told him very few. Then he asked me if I knew the difference. Well I don't think praise songs would go over with this crowd. He said, "a hymn goes like this. 'The cow is in the corn'. A praise song goes like this, 'The cow, cow, cow, is in the corn, corn, corn". Made it easy for me to understand. DP

Not sure what you guys are listening to as far as "worship songs" but I kinda like 'em. 2 of my favorites...

I guess there is gospel music that will please everyone out there some where.
My take on the above is that hymns are for the older generation and praise songs are for the new generation. There are very few young people around that you don't need to tell the same thing, multiple times:biggrin
I really can endure them if they bring the yougens in the door. Mrs DP and I have been invited to participate in a gospel event at Pinacle Mt park on May 17th; if anyone is interested. They will be serving hamburgers and hotdogs. DP
Well I'm not the younger generation anymore, but I can tell you that the Contemporary service at Pulaski Heights is what keeps me coming back to church week after week. The music is what got me there in the 1st place, and now K-love has a preset on my radio.
The way see it, the music is the same as any other popular type music, only the words are different, and have a more powerful message.
