I cut a few derelict lines today. If it looks old and it's in my way I often use my pliers. I don't mess with a fresh one that people are tending though. I would love to see them all go.
When I was fishing Saturday I saw a dead bird hung up in a limb line. It had the colors of either a hawk or owl. After reading this article I am going to start removing abandon lines.
ditto hate them
double ditto.....hate them.....
You boys sound like deer hunter's. The ones who think they are the only ones who should be in the woods. NUFF SAID!

I am on a lease that's lottery for stands. Not a private stand on the lease. Not all deer hunters are stereotypical as you suggest. I run jugs and limb lines when I fish. But I tag my jugs and flag my limb lines. When I leave I take them with me. I am not complaining about running limb lines. What I am complaining about is the numbers of abandon lines out there that doesn't have a hook or been used in months. Some are just litter and a hazard to wildlife, fishermen and skiers. With the bacteria in our estuaries these days it would sux to be the one in the hospital trying to save a limb or my life. Just my 2 cents.
I see people mark there limb lines by tying a beer can next them. I don't like them either.
With freedom comes responsibility. But be careful what freedom you take from the other guy, he may want to take some of yours! Agreed on cutting old unattended ones, trashing up the lake, etc.
Well said, thank you.
Cut a live bird off a limb line yesterday and he pecked me. Was a cormorant looking critter, but seemed to have an awful small head. I wasn't able to get the hook out and that might do him in long term.
Use to see hundreds abandoned fishing the swamps in santee cooper
leaving a limb line for someone else to get hooked on sounds like somebody thinks they are the only ones on the water? Does it not?
I hope you all keep this a nice thread that don't get deleted.
Its just sad that we are in a society in which people fail to exhibit responsibility so often. Limb and trot lines have their place, and we, as outdoorsmen need to hold ourselves to the standard of collecting everything we set, Simple! It is just ashame that the few bad apples give responsible outdoorsmen such a bad name.
Since Bruce went to the Mississippi gathering, he missed out on the yo-yo thread you deleted. He wasn't keeping a bind on some of these boys around here . Some of us knew what was going to happen. That's why I only posted the popcorn guy on the second post. You think that's fun, wait tell someone puts up a picture of a bream, and ask us what it is. Only here in Louisiana Ed, you gotta love it. Thanks for what you do - you too Bruce.
