I fished Saturday and caught a few on Pap's Hair Jigs. The water temp ranged from 49 to 54 according to the area and time of day, most of the fish we caught were in 17' to 20' of water.

Were you fishing Bear? We put in at Yellow Creek and went down to Indian. We didn't do as well as you did. Sounds like we weren't fishing deep enough either. We fished 8 - 12 fow.
Mrs. Crappie Stalker I did fish Bear Creek area.
That's a nice haul.

Did you catch them where you told me to fish?

Buddy see you been holding out on me. :biggrin I would have been fishing up that way monday. But durn sinus issues had me down all week. MY boat was next to the camper all week. Did not wet a hook in 7 days of camping. But wait a week and I plan on wearing bear creek out. When we get back from Grenada I hope to fish Bear 4 to 6 days per week.:fish
Pete
That is a great haul of slabs. Congrats!
Those are some nice dang fish Joel, great catch.
How deep did you fish, and "live Bait" or Jig or what????
Most of the fish came out of 17 to 20 of water we were using Pap's Hair Jigs, side pulling!
How many poles you fishing Joel?? I'm fishing by myself with 3 poles averaging 13 fish each time. Nice fish but not seen it on fire. Whens best bite been for you? Seems like early then around 2-4 that evening to me. I fished bear creek everyday I was home except two winds to rough then. Think I talked with you about tm mount I bought for my boat had to get some bushings for it from you.
Deep
I run three poles myself unless I'm fishing a tournament and then we run 4 each! Sorry, I haven't been on the board this weekend we fished the Crappie USA Super Event at Pickwick. The best bite has been the same for us also early and then around 2. Grant did you get your bushings?
Yes I got the bushings Joel thanks again!! Need to tighten latch up some how on the mount. It keeeps kicking back up on me for some reason. I think the dog or latch isn't tight enough in the grove. I loosened it somehow
I been fishing just foot or two off the bottom. When these fish move up do u stay on the bottom in shallow water or do u come a lil bit??
I try different depths and watch my electronics.
Well I've stood it long enough....gonna give it a try at Pickwick in the morning!!! Any pointers for a rookie & a couple of old timers? Will be launching at Rose Trail. Thanks in advance
Been good on red jig black nody chart tail grub for me
Red head and Chart hair, and blue on blue have been good!
Thanks guys....have them tied on now.....judging by the boats going past us....we're in the wrong place....lol
That's great Joel glad you done good!! Idk nothing about tournament fishing nor good enough to do it maybe one day!
Thanks, Grant we were proud of it ourself!
Have you noticed what speeds been best?? Seem like I done better going faster maybe just covering more ground idk?? I need GPS cause speeds a guessing game but I do have cheap sonar. I've been doing steady 1mph and faster to get over humps in shallow spots. I hear people say go .08 mph and pull 18in x fow fish are at. I know some days and windy days especially id have 50 yards of braid out to get it close to the bottom. Is that just plain to fast or does the braid not sink as well?? I'm using power pro 10lb line. Two 1/4 oz jigs with grub. Its hard to stay consistent without GPS but I do get close as I slow down they all drag at same time but it takes me few minutes to get a pole reset at the right depth as I let more and more out. Could it possibly be just getting the line further away from the boat why I'm doing better or just simply to fast and needs more line out to get deep?? Seems every time I see fish on finder I get bite sometimes I do without seeing but more when I do see them. This was all through the dates of 3-14 thru 3-26-14
What's your thoughts Joel on how to get better or what am I doing wrong?? Thanks
Give me a call tonight Grant!
U still up?
