I use the ones you get at Wal Mart, the ones with the string and bead. It's working good for me.
Waxed dental floss.

I like the rubber ones I get at bass pro on the wire. I feel they go through the guides better.
I use a piece of spinnerbait skirt
I like the little rubber ones and never had a problem with them. If you don't want to order them Dicks is carrying them now under the Eagle Claw brand just get the right size for your line.
I use a simple rubber band. It works like a charm.

I'm too busy to make my own and buy the string around the tube type from my local bait store. I prefer to shop from my bait store, for most of my purchases. These guys can't survive on minnow sales alone and the big box stores don't sell minnows.

A couple of vids on your question.
I use the rubber beads on the wire and string tied around the tube. They both seem to work good. The string seems to come through the rod eyes better.
I make my own from braid or waxed dental floss.

Cabelas has the perfect bobber stops. They come in quantity of 40 in whatever line class you want. They hold snug to the line and won't slip unless you put pressure on them. They are more precise han Basspro bobber stops. They are also color coded for the line class you want. That way you don't have to search so much. Here is what I keep mine in, picked it up at craft store, sections screw together.

Hello: I always seem to drop or loose the little beads that are with the stops. My tip to you is to buy the Thill floats that don't need those beads and come with a stop knot right on the stem of the float. You will have to replace the knot once in a while but I think any kind of knot would work. I bought my Thill bobbers from Grizzly Jig. Good Luck this season. O - R
If you want to use it shallow I do something different and it's easily adjustable. I use a bass fishing bead that are normally used for Carolina Rigging and run a rubber "peg-it" through the bead. Stops the bobber and is easy to see.
