Thanks to a great group!
I have always found our Arkansas group very friendly and helpful. There are a few that would rather give their help and advice in a PM but I have always found our group more than willing to help others. My son coaches in TX and came to our spring camp with us last year and had a great time. He can't make it this year due to our camp being the same week-end as their regional track meet. I decided I would take off for his spring break next week and take the boat down there and fish on his local lake, Lake Waco. I put a note up on the TX section of crappie.com asking for any thoughts on the patterns, etc but said I'm NOT asking for specific spots or anything like that. In the last 24 hours my post has had 61 views and not one reply. Not even a PM.
Let's not take for granted the great group of men and women that make up our AR group. Thanks to all of you.

Plan on being there with the wife. Haven't nailed it down for sure just yet. That 4 letter word "work" can really get in the way of fishing sometimes. Look forward to seeing yall as well.

Maybe they don't know how to catch a crappie in Texas. Just go on down and show them how real fisherman roll.

Take what you already know and apply it. You will do fine.

Texas has crappie??
Who knew???? :biggrin

I thought maybe it was because we have some many more fish than they do and they had to be careful of letting others find the few they have. I know I can find the pattern. We are going out with a guide on Monday. I was just trying to shorten then learning curve on that lake.

If short on time a one guide trip sure can be worth the money. He can show you more in one morning in most cases than you will find own your own in several.:twocents Good luck. Please post lots of photos of those Texas Slabs.:biggrin

Scout it out Bigtex. We may want to have the next Arkansas crappie camp in Texas. Apparently when the arkie bunch rolls in to a lake, they catch all the fish in it. Think about it...Last year Dardanelle had plenty of fish, camp was there, now there are none. Lake X got a good bite going, the Arkie bunch shows up and now the fish are extinct there. Crappie Greg just said in a post that it would take one more month to get all the fish caught out of Conway. Everyone knows that Handi caught all the fish out of Arkabutla single HANDIdly and they now reside in his freezer much to the chagrin of the MS bunch. Yep, I think the AR bunch could fish out a Texas lake in a weekend.

Texas fishing forum.com has some good info under crappie fishing and several guides on texas lakes!!

Tex, don't be a stranger. I have not seen you out on the water.

Bigtex, I saw your post ,as I look at most state sights. Yes Ar. has some good info and good people. I know a couple of the Texas guys and they are great guys. One goes by Skiptomylu. He gives out much info and is known on here for his jig tying expertise. Also know Ferdi and he is such a fine fellow, he gave away some rods and a trolling motor at the La.Toledo Bend gathering. Skip was a little busy this week, attending the arrival of twin grandchildren , so he may have missed it. The guys may just not be familiar with the area. Over on our La. sight, someone would have piped up, just to say welcome, even if they were not familiar. Anyway, visit us in La. anytime for info, we will pipe in. And thanks you Ar. guys, y'all put out some good reads and info. But remember we are all c.c members.
