If you could go anywhere within an hour of Baton Rouge where would it be? Gave it a try Tuesday, but got iced out. Want to give it another go Friday.

Your First Post on CDC :welcome From North Louisiana,,, Someone will help you shortly
Tchfuncte River. Launch at 4th street behind St Tammany hospital. from the launch, go south. Fish below the bridge, towards the back of dead end canals. Look on google earth to locate a few canals and give it a shot. I'de try a white, yellow and white, or silver jig 2' under a cork. Last time I went bite was very light so keep a good eye on that cork. G/L
Welcome to CDC Recker....I am trying to figure that out myself.....you have Old River Morganza, Bayou Corne on Hwy 70, Attakapas landing on the south end of Lake Verrett and Henderson...I am going somewhere Friday or Saturday....just don't know where yet.....
Attakapas landing behind Napoleonville. launch, go north 1/3 mi and try Willow Tree canal (hit or miss). Then go north same bank again and try Crackhead canals. Around 2nd point there is a pipeline sign. Past it into the cove is where the Ike canal comes out to the lake. Go in and go to the back and look for good water. Try jigs under a cork. Might snag a few girls. Bring a box of night crawlers. If the WP don't work out, go out to the lake and fish around some of the cypress laydowns or dead stumps in particular along the edge. There is a very good chance that you will hook into some very nice catfish.
thanks Slip....I had planned to hit Willow tree canal first......gonna bypass Crackerhead and go south.....gonna hit south Verrett, Sherman, Cheramie, Union, Christmas tree and Stephensville....back up Belle River thru magazille to Attakapas......just checked it out....40 miles and about 8 gal gas.....course, if I find something in any spot, I will linger and not make the circuit...it will give Didi a good chance for pictures.......
PS...Sounds good. While in Sherman look for the drainage canal that drains from Labadie into bay Sherman. A couple of dead ends before it enters bay Sherman can be good. I've heard a couple reports from there. If the water is good its a good place to try. May be a few boats in there but there but check and see.
Thanks guys for the info. Had to push back until tomorrow but it's nice to finally be part of the discussion. Will let y'all know how things go.
