I've had my Huckabee rods for a few years now. with that said, I've just put some bonehead braid on 2 of them and I really like it. If I end up breaking a tip due to rod wrap (which bonehead claims not to do, and hasn't yet) ill just bite the bullet and buy another one. I've gotten my money's worth from the already, they're great rods. Before the braid, I just used anything high vis in the 10-12 pound range. Just my 2 cents, enjoy the new rod and fill the freezer👍👍👍
BoneHead Tackle hi-vis mono, period in my opinion. I just bought two Huckabee rods at a tackle show. It was pointed out to me at that time about braid voiding the warranty.
My favorite mono is Viscious Panfish High Vis.
I am going to say Bonehead Mono. I have tried a lot and Bonehead is the best. Next to Bonehead, I would say Viscous.
I have 6 Huckabee Rods and have used several different mono's. Until recently I have used Vicious Hi Vis in 10lb. Also used it on my spider rigging rods as well. Now I use BoneHead Hi Vis. Good Luck ic choosing the line that's right for you.

Crappie maxx in hi vis yellow is my favorite
I used to only use the Vicious, but have now switched to Boneheads mono, it is a superior product for me. Personally I fish braid on my dipping sticks, if I break it I'll just buy another.
I have both the Bonehead no memory Mono and the Braid here if you would like to come and check them out. I will say this. The bonehead braid is about as sensitive as you can get.

Excuse my ignorance but is dipping the same as doodle sockin? Where you find visible structure and drop your rig all around it to whatever depth?
Vicious hi vis is what I use but with all the hub bub about bonehead I will be trying it this year instead of the vicious.
Pappa I.assume that's what it is I remember bob brown and his doddle sockin
You want to look at name brand mono for cheap.....www.ffo-tackle.com I prefere the Spiderwire supermono.
I have both the #4 and the #7 in Hi-Vis in the Bonehaed at the shop folks.

got my rod on saturday and used it in monday at lbc. Its is awesome!
Just curious about the Bonehead mono line. Has anyone had problems with it "burning" when you cinch it down. I've tried Vicious Hi-Viz and was very disappointed in how easy it was to curly Q the line when you're tying on a jig. I did use plenty of saliva as well. I've only been using Trilene or Stren since then and had no such issues.
Hmmm! I've used Viscious Panfish Hi vis yellow for years and I never recall that happening once. My favorite line. What kind of knot are you using?
Like Floyd i have never had a problem with Vicious doing that..only problem i have ever had with Vicious was it's very soft and frays easily when cast n dragging..reason i switched to BoneHead Hi Vis Mono..tough as nails and stronger than I am.....Ranger
Ranger, Iken. I'm either tying a palomar or a loop knot. If you two say you've never had a problem, I must have goofed or got a bad batch. Knowing me, my money would be on goofed.
I use both those knots,
Depending on what application your using it should matter. Easiest Knot to tie to a jig is the improved chinch Knot. Worked for years for me and is good and strong.......like Floyd I have and do use both knots you mentioned and have had no problems........Ranger
Just ordered 8lb and 17 lb bonehead mono along with some soft plastics. I will post later and see if like them or not.
Please post a link to bonehead. I did a search and ended up with a store in texas......? That sound right?
Here ya go Leland, he is in Texas.

You might wanna look at Gamma its a copolymer 6lb has breaking strength of about 13lbs.
I've been using the Bonehead Braid 12# Hi Vis for a couple weeks, works great, only problem I have had is the color does not last ever long. After a couple trips the line is almost white in the length I'm using. PowerPro does the same thing not sure if it lasts any longer before it fades out. But the Bonehead is still a very good braid. Just installed some of their Mono Hi Vis, have not used it yet but very impressed with want I see so far. Very strong with very little memory, should work great on my spinning reels.
I like 12 lb Silver Thread on my Huckabee rods. The copolymer has a little more stretch than mono, and I think it's easier to snap free from snags. It also seems to hold up better in the brush than mono.
Just read an industry artical on fishing line sales in the US. Three lines were totaled for last year, fairly evev between mono, co-polymer, and braids/superlines. Mono led by 41%. Followed by braid/superlines 36%. Copolymers 30%. Plus or minus 5% undicided. Source Fishing Tackle Retailer magazine which does industrywide market research.
