Spawnng Slabs
Caught these last Saturday in one of our favorite gravel pits. The pit is shallow and always warms before any of the other ones do each year. In fact, before all this cold weather last week, this pit had warmed to 58-59 dgrs...and that was enough.
they were in about 1' of water next to the trees along the bank...biggest fish was 16" long and weighed 2lbs 12oz!
One pole jigging with only 3' of line out on a 9' pole made for some interesting net jobs! More fun than a redneck should be allowed to have...thank ya Lord!

That's mighty purtty right there! You probably not going back there for awhile since you got so many this trip maybe you wanted to give out some directions to that spot so they don't over populate and start getting a lot smaller??? lol Nice very NICE! ~~<*{{{{<<

No doubt! I love to fish the river but since Katrina it just doesn't produce the quality it used to. Quantity is not an issue, but they are mostly small. 9-12" fish make up most of the creel. Nothing wrong with that, I love to eat em! But our fish have lost 1/2lb on average...and that's a lot for a crappie.
So, I have pulled every string I know and made deals with the devil when necessary to secure some great pits..they pay off when Im in need of getting my slab fix!
Here's a couple more from that Sunday in another lake, and some from January in yet another lake.

It just don't get any better than that! Great pics and thanks for keeping the carrot in front of the horse.......Just so we don't loose interest you know. lol ~~<*{{{{<<
