huge shad kill! i am able to see 1ft thick layer of dead shad laying on the bottom in the river channel!
WTG Ledge! Yikes I am thinking a foot of dead shad is going to make for some tough fishing!
Way to go TC! As for the crappie, I've fished about 4 times within the last week. Dinks are slow and keepers seem to be non existent.
Dang that's a lot of SLIME. Better YOUR boat than MINE. Just Sayin
Ranger
Nice! Darned nice!!!!!
No worries Mark. TC keeps a power washer on the Ark right behind the smaller of the two couches. A little splash of bleach from his 50 gallon drum, the one next to the goalpost- not the other one- and Hydro Therapy is ready for the next three hour tour, as Gilligan would say. Thanks for the best Slimer pictures of the year Ledge; I never doubted you for a minute.
I hope you released all of those pigs
yep, all fish over 20lbs go back! we had those in the picture within about 45 min, so they all made the picture. George is right, about 5 min with the power washer and she is good to go. I am taking off tomorrow through Saturday for fishn. I will have some reports come Monday.
I hope you guys catch a nice fat mess of crappie! Good luck and look forward to seeing some crappie fishing reports.
LEDGE you are the MAN ! haven't seen you on here lately and wondering if you had to take a break from all those big cats..That looks like that was a fun day of fishing and I don't mind the SLIME!
Show us those big ole slabs Ledge! And some kitty's also.
Can't imagine the size of filet that would come off a monster like that.
Ledge looking forward to your report, hint hint!
Ledge,
If I may ask what type of pole are you using for these. I generally use a 14 foot Meat Hunter for when I am below Keystone going for Blues but I would reckon that those would be to big to have on a boat. I have thought about getting a couple of 10 foot "BIG" rods for either Cats or Spoonbill. What would you suggest if I may ask?
Those are some great looking cats you and yours have caught there.
Bobo
14' not too big for the Ark. Kinda small if ya ask me.
I fished four hard days last week. last wed was a crappie day. I did so bad that i did not take a picture of that day! they were all very short fish!! but lots of them. Thursday was a slow cat day. the lake was flat and i hate flat water. I think we caught 8 fish and the biggest one 21lbs. Friday, I did not get on the water till 230. however, we caught 11 fish. 44lbs was the big fish. Saturday, the wind came back, and so did the fish. Here are some of the fish and box fish (keepers). My company had never heard of a spoonbill, so i went farther to the dark side, and took them. We hit 6 spooner in 45min. biggest was 38lbs. the graph picture is the spoonbill. that last picture, we had all 3 of those fish hooked up at once, and only 2 of us!
Lots of big boomarangs in that graph picture Ledge. What do you think we are looking at there? Surely not all Spoonbill are they?
yep! sure seemed that way when i let my piece of plankton down there!
Got any crappie graph pics Ledge ? Good job on the spoonies and kitties!
Nice fish !
I love to catch nice cats out on Oolagah myself, and those are some great fish ledge but why are these reports not showing up on the off topic thread?
Look a little closer Hotrod2. On jan. 20 Ledge started a thread on the off topics called Oologah catfish. Those kitties are just too huge to be contained to one little bitty thread though so fortunately there was a tiny bit of room for them on this one. If it helps though I will throw in the fact that I actually use crappie heads for bait for Mr. Whiskers so there you go- right back on topic!
I concur, Ledge keep posting, this thread needs as much help as possible!! Ledge did post up his crappie results in the thread!
Ciller you've got to use a really small hook for that plankton! (You crack me up!) Sign me up for the Ledge Workshop also!
Like I said I like to catch big blues as well as anyone and those are some real beauties. My go to bait is crappie heads and ribcages along with pearch heads as well. I really was not trying to be critical I had noticed the Oolagah catfish thread the other day myself. I love to catch fish of all species and like you said this thread could use help so I encourage people to post all pictures of any nice fish they catch on this thread as long as they come from Oolagah. Keep em coming! Again ledge very nice cats.
Wow! What a mess of blues! Well done sir!
I moved the Oologah Catfish thread to the main page. The thread can get real big in a hurry if we post everything about Oologah in one thread. Plus it makes it harder to look back and find what the crappie were doing. Post away TC on here, I sure like looking at the pics but wanted no part of where you went Saturday! LOL!!!
Odie
What type of hooks do you use I tried using a crappie fillet I used 6/0 circles and I feel fish pulling but I couldn't hook anything I may have put too much bait on or something
[QUOTE=. I really was not trying to be critical
Good man HotRod! Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Sparky try a 5 or 6 kahle hook
Can you get too big a crappie head?
Bigger the better
I agree with fishokla, bigger the head, bigger the fish. Some of the old timers I fish with say that they have baited with the entire 10" crappie carcuss and the blues take it like nobody's business.
That makes perfect sense Hotrod. Fishokla - I assume you mean 5/0 and 6/0 not 5&6.
I have fished with the heads from crappie that weighed almost two pounds. They seemed too big so I cut them in half from the nose lengthways and got zero bites. Switched to whole heads and caught em up to 25 lbs. which was cool until I read Ledges posts!
