Motor Oil 1" Stingers and 1" Stone Fly Nymph

Some work I did earlier today. I had the little stinger and twister tails in mind when I ordered the motor oil. I am loving that color and can't wait for the bream to start biting to try out the stinger.....

The Stone Fly Nymph, I am having trouble with. The legs are hard to get to fill out. They are very small. The legs also are not rigid at all. i have a hard time keeping them from sticking to the body. Could hardener fix that issue or would it make fill issues worse?CF

you need to send me a few of those bugs in that color lol

Generally you use softer plastic to fill small appendages. Try heating the mold a little and see if that helps. Also try to inject the mold fast sometimes that helps on tricky molds. Air bubbles can also keep small appendages from filling.

Rondon is right sometimes you have to fire up your molds in the oven to get them to shoot right for instance I was having many problems with the debate that I posted recently because of the venting I had to heat Hold up to 200° for hot enough that you couldn't keep your hands on the mold and then it would shoot right also we have production molds that of my little squid that we were having problems in we have to fire those molds up to the same temperature to get them also to shoot right so like Rondon said try heating them up and you should have no problems I think of course try using a soft plastic also would help sometimes I used a super soft plastic and tried it on the little squid but it didn't work the only thing that would help those molds was heating them up in the oven a lot of times the molds are made without the proper venting and you have to mess with the molds to get them to work right I have quite a few molds that have the same problem and of course some of them I reinvented I do not recommend chopping on any molds and less you know what you're doing you could ruin the mold real easy I know I have a few land around.

The legs were tough to keep from sticking together to take the pic, but open up as soon as it hits the water. I'm using up the rest of the plastic and won't purchase that cheaper brand any more. Lesson learned!

Couldn't you deal with the sticking (apparently only a problem in storage, not in the water) by squirting a little attractant oil in the bag in which they are stored?

Yes. I have already done that. They just roll everything up tight in anise. But as has been mentioned already, they are supposed to come unraveled in the water. I have not had a chance to test them out yet as it has been too cold for Blue Gill in My area to try them out. As soon as the water warms well enough I will give them a try.CF
