Any reports on the crappie fishing in this lake? Just opened last year.
Lots and lots of 8-9 1/2 inch fish with a 10 in minimum length limit. Needs a little more time and it will be great!!! Only about 1 in 50 are keeper size right now.

Sounds like every TWRA family fishing lake I've ever fished. They'll drop the size limit to 8 inches in a few years once they realize the crappie aint gettin any bigger and they need to get some taken out.Quote:

Lots of cover and structure. Bushes, trees, roadbeds, drop offs , creek channels, you name it. The problem is once the weather gets warm you can't even run your trolling motor unless you are in 30 ft of water or more due to a serious weed problem. It gets covered in grass and it is a bad type of grass.Quote:

This is a super nice lake with lots of underwater structure. Lot of trees were topped and left standing. There are no camp sites nor gas available nor live bait. If you go, go prepared. The toilets are nice any have yet begun to stink.Quote:

The Carroll county watershed authority released 1000 grass carp in the lake to control the grass. Very effective thus far
With what I saw last year they need more like 10,000 carp. Beech lake in Lexington is just as bad and has been for around 4 years now. I lived on Beech lake and back then there was never any grass.Quote:

Problem with grass carp is they feed aggressively when growing but once they get older and big they become very lazy. Fun fish to shoot in heart of summer.
