I ve always just used a cheap bobbin even though I have been tying forever.
I think its time for a top quality ceramic so I am looking for suggestions .

Ceramic is the way to go! It is easier to get the jig tight without fraying the thread! I have a couple from BPS. Also a few from Crazy angler! Hope this helps.
Any ceramic Bobbin is going to be better than a cheap brass bobbin. I think you will love the difference.

There are a lot of good ones and most will do really good for you. Dr. Slicks for a not really high end one seems to do fish even though they use insert tips on both ends of the tube. Some though use ceramic for the entire tube. Just get one that you like. One thing on insert type, if you get the off brands sometimes the ceramic insert can come loose and then you have to either get another one or glue them back in really carefully.

Don't want to hijack your thread, but I'm new to tying and was wondering what the advantage is between the ceramic and a regular cheapo? I have a cheapo but saw the ceramics when I bought it.. just didn't think the $20 ones would be much better than the $5 one. Guess I was wrong... a lot more to learn about this hobby!
I think it has more to do with how many you tie a day. What type you tie and the materials you use.

Be careful not to loose one if one should come out. I have had that happen several times with the more no name brands with the inserts and just glue them back with super glue, but have to be careful about where the glue is put.
Well I made about 10 jigs last night before my ceramic insert fell out! Where do you guys suggest I go to buy a quality bobbin?
First send the one you have back to where you bought it. Then remember this in the future as most good stores will replace something like that when it happens.Quote:

If you look around this link you will see a lot of items most don't even have. Dr. Slick's has good stuff especially for the price compared to some others.
