I think it all depends on what part of the country you live in. I would say 15"
it is relative,,,,,i think the biggest one in the box....would be the slab.

Where I fish most, 12" is a monster.

It varies from person to person and also where you are fishing. A pound fish might be considered a slab in some areas because fish are stunted. I don't think it has to be the biggest crappie in the boat because you may have a really good mess of nice crappie and one hoss. Yep, it's a slab but many of the others should be considered as slabs too.
Fishing Kentucky & Barkley lakes, I would consider 1 1/2 lbs. & up as slabs. Over two lbs. a slab and then some and 2 1/2 lb. an above as trophy class fish. Again this is my opinion based on the lakes I fished an the success I've had. I'm sure there are a lot of fishermen who fish both lakes who would up that mark as well they should with all the success they've had.
By the noise u hear when u flip the filet over to cut the meat off the scales. If it makes a plop noise it's a slab, if it makes anything less it's a dink. At least that's what I have always thought:))

8 inches. Slightly over that if using the metric system. It really isn't going to change their size no matter what you call them.
I'm in Texas they have to be 15 or more to be called a slab or barndoor.

I believe it's a personal thing. Big is in the eyes of the beholder kind of thing. If I said it was 15" and the lake you frequent never generates a 13" you would never catch one? Tight lines......Skeet.
It is when you hold it up and look and then say man what a slab . That is what makes a slab .

Depends on the size of fish in your area IMO. For me a 13 to 14 inch is a gooden 15 and up is a pig :D
