Has anyone got any info about this computer scan. Showed up on my computer(don't know how) and every so often pops up and wants to do a scan. Never used it always closed it out. any ideas?:dono

It appears to be OK. It's not a scam/trojan/virus ... but is a legit program. Likely a trial issue.
It's just a program to check & make sure you have the latest driver updates.
You can read about it here : http://download.cnet.com/Driver-Geni...-10238646.html .... but, if you look on the left column under "Quick Specs", you'll see that the trial is only good for a scan to tell you IF you need drivers updated. To actually GET the updates, you have to buy the program for $30.
IMHO ... you don't need it. So, you can continue to ignore it (close it out) or delete the whole program.

I don't know about the program you are talking about but I once had a problem where something came up on the screen and I thought that it was something that it was suppose to do. I didn't have to tell it that it was ok are anything like that. So I let it procede. What it did was lockup everything. I had to have the pc reloaded. Now I kill everything That I did not start.:kewl
Sounds like the trojan virus program that looked like a virus scan program ... but was, in fact, falsely producing infection results and then wanted you to purchase the removal program. It was being passed around quite a bit, a few years ago, and was a real booger to get rid of. It hit me several times, but I never let it proceed beyond opening the pop-up, so getting rid of it was a little easier (but did take downloading a removal program to do it).Quote:

Like CrappiePappy said, sometimes with that kind of program you have to scan the registry to get rid of it for good. He named a couple good ones. I'm partial to using CCleaner for some things.
I am getting one now that is red and in big letters says warning. I close it as soon as I see it.
Update!!! Don't know if it had anything to do with it or not while getting rid of it computer locked up large screen saying cia, fbi, police dept etc locked computer and if i wanted unlocked send $300 dollars. It's in the shop nowQuote:
