Gregg runs a heck of a crappie tournament series. I am surprised that he branched out that far, but quite possibly he intends to grow this thing and in order to do that one would have to branch out as there are limited resources or anglers if you will who can and will committ to his previous tourny trail. For me personally, i will join and fish the "normal" lakes that we did before. My dilemma is do i want to fish the new lakes or if we are going to be fishing that far Should one go ahead and just do the three Crappiemasters tournys and the one at LOZ instead. All of them closer except for LOZ. Crappiemasters may be the better option for the payouts but i also would like to support Greggs endeavors. Gotta think it over some more with my partner Haugboss.
I love that he spread out a little to truman and okie lakes.Since there are few from crappiemasters and none at all from crappieusa anymore.Nice to see tourneys in the midwest again. And cheaper too!Gotta love it.IMHO Just wish they were on saturdays so I could commit to the all of them.
Things to consider,
1.how many days off to pre fish a lake youve never been on. 2. cost of lodging . 3. Gas oil cost. 4. What do local licences cost . How good do you think you are can you cash a check or is it just for fun. What are the pay outs are they garenteed. weather is always a factor. as a boat owner the break downs happen .
:dono All good points to consider Nick. Remember what they always say, "if you want to make a million dollars fishing tourny's, start with 2 million"!!!:yikes
It's great for thos of the of you that want to and can afford to travel to fish tourneys, Gregg has obviously put alot of leg work into this, wish he would have been able to do it about 10yrs ago! Have fun with it folks! Hope to run into a bunch of ya more this year:juggle
An if the stars align just right????
Wooeee Ouch, no Pamona, Melvern, or C Grove, and have to be a member to fish. That is a game changer.
:highfive Dan you could have afforded to fish anywhere in the country if you had bought that snowblower!!!!!!!!:bash
nonono DK, no need to fish those three lakes for tourny guys. Right now Melvern is a dead sea, Council Grove has been a dead sea for 10 years and Pomona is too small to put many boats on for a tourny. Membership is 25 bucks, pretty cheap actually actally that is only about 5 or 6 clamato beers in the long run!!!!!!!!!:Rofl
I hope everyone would consider going to some or most of these events as he (Greg) has worked very hard to put them on. I know some people won't fish if it's not on their home lakebut the greatest thing about going somewhere else is to meet new people and learn different techniques of fishing in different areas. This is what I enjoy the most. I have never fished Fort Gibson but I went down there for a tournament about 3 years ago and fell in love with the river. Very different than KS lakes but they have huge black crappie there.
I know money is an issue for everyone but if you can make them, please come and support Midwest Crappie Trail as Greg is a great guy who is willing to try different things.
And for those that come to El Dorado this year, I won't be able to make it so good luck!! Walleye Tournament for me.
Can you take Jim with you so I have a slim chance? Only thing slim about me is my chance too win.
I think this link needs to be a sticky if'n you could please. Thanks Mike
As soon as I get back home I would love to get into a few of these things! Im kinda shocked there wasn't one up at Glen Elder as good as the crappie fishing is up there.
The glen is too close and in the same state. Maybe let Chief know of a good crappie lake, say in Arizona. You might have a chance of getting him to
have a tournament there.
Birddog we both know you weren't fishing all of them even if they were close.
NO he will be to busy fishing crappie masters.
The Glenn hmm 3.5 to 4hrs away, for me. Kaw Lake 3.5 hrs away, Oolagah 2:45 to 3 hrs away, Ft. Gibson 3.5 to 4 hrs. away. And I have had plenty of tournaments in Kansas seems to draw the same 15 to 20 boats even when we went to Tuttle if I don't try to draw more people to our tournaments they will go away. I would suggest that if someone would like to have a tournament at the Glenn go for it I will show up and you can borrow my scales for the weigh-in so you don't have that expense. But now for the reason I got on here.
We are having a scheduling change for Oologah in OK (you know where that is Birddog right next to your in-laws so you would'nt even have to rent a hotel, you know where you always told me you wanted to have one) not Oologah, AZ we will be having our launch and weigh-in at Winganon Bait Store 4002 S. 4180 Rd, Chelsea, OK
Does the Hillsdale tournament count as one of the three regular season tournaments to qualify for the classic?:dono
Yes & it counts in the AOY points race also.
Oologah Tournament will have the Launch and Weigh-In at Winganon Bait Store. For Information call 913-980-1954
