Gonna' hit Tarpon again tomorrow. It's been suggested I try the other side of the lake over by Piney Point and Pasture Fence Point, which makes sense. Obviously the fish would be on the other side of the lake from where I was fishing

Funny
A small report would be good. Heading that way in the morning. Thanks
Ok, well - I am surprised that post went through. My computer died as I was typing. Seems the puppy pulled the power cord off and I didn't notice until it died!
Anyway, it was a short trip for me today. I've been battling with the warning horn on the outboard and thought I had it when I disconnected the temperature sensor. At least it cured the problem last week! I was over by Pasture Fence Point and it went off again, so I idled back to Anderson Park, buzzing the whole way.
Mechanic says there are only two sensors on the engine, low oil and overheat. I can see the oil level is fine, so I disconnected the warning module completely. I hope that stops the buzzer.
I managed to fish for less than an hour. Only caught one, about 10", on a green/yellow slider grub. Thirteen feet of water and the jig was at about 11 feet.
I'm going back again tomorrow to test it out. If you see a bearded guy in a 16' Carolina Skiff with a really tall bow mount trolling motor and a 5-month old golden retriever puppy - that's me!
Be looking for ya! Not sure how old the boat is but the sensor for the oil reserve sometimes gets saturated and sinks giving you an alarm.
Looks like you live pretty close to me, Downwind. I'm just off of Ulmerton/Walsingham before you cross the bridge to the beach.
Motor is a '94 Mercury and the oil sensor is a probe in the bottom of the onboard tank. I am hoping it's a bad warning module and not a short in the wiring harness. I would hate to have to run that down!
Just down the road Indian Rocks Beach. Have a 98 Bass Tracker and had the onboard oil sensor go out once. Had to replace the tank. Problem solved. Getting ready to head out.
2001 Merc. 30 low oil sensor disconnect. Check oil tank often. No more buzzer.
had 94 = 40 ph merc. disconnected oil sensor around 96 -97 because of buzzing.
Sold it in 2010... never had a problem....just watched oil level.
Yep - sight glass on the front cowling makes oil checks easy. One glance back and you can see the oil level and the water "pisser" at the same time!
Fishing was slow (for me anyway). I caught a total of 5, but only 3 were big enough to keep - and just barely at that. Enough for lunch tomorrow. It was really nice to fish the whole day without a single squawk from the outboard!
Got late start yesterday due to minor problems with boat, didn't get rod in water
till 10am, pulled plug at around 1:30 pm wind had picked up to 12 - 14mph out of
North west, made spider riggin a little unstable in 12 -13' water.
Kept 12 - threw back 37 ...............Good time had by all, fished first time with
83 yr old gentlemen from Dowagiac, Mi. - Bill Koesis, who fishes almost weekly
in small boat.

Nice job Harold!
Didn't have quite the luck but did manage a few. Most came in 12 fw close to the bottom. Some had eggs but didn't look ready yet. Water temps 62-64
Years ago I remember my father in-law saying that the gators were bad at LT. Is that still the case?
pretty much quite the opposite, do to number of homes built around the lake..............
Infact in past 3 yrs that i have been on lake - had not seen first one......not saying
they aren't there... but just toooooo much people life around it now
Going to taron Monday 2-17 need to put some filets in freezer.
There are some 'gators in the lake. In fact the FWC removed a crocodile from the south end of the lake/outfall canal last summer. It had migrated up from southern Florida!
Even though the lake is in a largely urban area, it is in Florida and will have gators - especially as spring approaches and the males start roaming around looking for love in all the wrong places!
