the question is.... 2014 WS ride 135 or 115X?
50 more lbs carry capacity vs the removable transducer well and 1.5 ft shorter.
Decisions decisions. Leaning to the 135 and mounting the xducer for my HB997 on a retractalbe bow mount. Puts the xducer out front nearer rod tips.
Suggestions?
I have a Ride 135 and I chose it over the 115 for some more space for camping trips and the better speed when I'm on the bigger lakes. For my transducer, I went with the CellBlock and have a Lowrance Elite 5 HDI and the RAM transducer arm. Everything fits on the box and I can take the whole unit off very easily to put it in the truck on the way home.Quote:

Both yaks are great and have tons of storage on them. If you were to fish on smaller rivers, I'd say the 115 definitely has an advantage.

I have the 115 due to storage space limitations, and no issues for me at all. I have a Low Elite 4 gps/2d on a ram mount and madd frog xducer extender that folds up when not in use, mounts to the slide track, on/off in 2 minutes, have the power card permanently mounted so I just drop the battery down in the front storage area and the crate in the back area, I'm gone.
I also have the 115. I went through the same questions as you because a lot of our club members have the 135 but I didn't want to deal with the 2' longer yak because of fishing smaller waters most of the time. On bigger waters my 115 is not as fast as theirs are but that is the only down fall I have seen over the 115. 11-6 is a big kayak with tons of room for about anything you need to carry. If you plan to take camping gear I would go with the longer one just for added storage. Either way you will love the Wilderness Ride. I use it more than I use my big boat, no gas and it slides into the back of the truck :)
I have a Tracker that I'm prolly gonna sell once I get the yak underway. My favorite lakes are TM or paddle only... have to remove the prop and the tank to use the Tracker. Had an Old Towne 16ft guide canoe I sold when I bought the tracker... wish I had not (sold the canoe). I could load it on top in the morning... work the day.... go straight to the lake and fish til just pre dark. Can't do that with the Tracker.... 45 minutes from work to home that time of day. Time I get home change, hook up get to the lake only have an hour or 2 to fish.
Ride 115, plenty of storage and I can manage the weight, though it is still over 100lbs with all my junk in it.

Have rigged out 6 different kayaks and this is my 2nd WS 135 (2012) and my last one. At 71, it does it all for me and my style of crappie fishing.

I'm wanting a kayak also and have been considering the Ride. Let me say that I am short, stoutly built ( OK fat, LOL ) and old enough for my joints to be pretty stiff. Do you think the Ride 115 would be safe for a 300# guy? How stable would it be and can you stand in them like I see some kayak makers advertise? Is there any other information I should know about before I do something this spring? Would the Ride 135 be better for me? Thanks in advance.
The 115 may be the better pick for you. It's actually 2 inches wider than the 135 and a little more stable, although you would most likely be fine in either. Chad Hoover (you can find him on youtube) is a big guy and fishes out of a 135 and actually will stand up and fish to prove the point. The seat may be good for your joints. It's easily adjustable so you don't have to stay in the same position the whole trip!Quote:

I know if i get one i want one with those swim peddles. Lot and lots of yaks out there....been looking on ebay all the used ones for sale, using it as a guide that something is making them sell that one
I think the Jackson Big Rig would be a better option. Although the rides more than likely will work (along with Jackson Cuda and Big Tuna and Native Slayer).Quote:

I have the 115 and I've stood up in mine, I just installed an eye bolt at the front of the cockpit area, and use a dog leash as a pull strap to pull myself up, and to ease myself back down. Does the Ride 115 track well, I think that is the term, paddle reasonable straight without having it veer off line too badly? I am interested in being able to launch, go downstream or upstream, and paddle back, through some swift waters in small rivers. Thanks for your help.
Has anyone added a Kevlar keel saver to the Rides? for beaching. I had one on my Old Towne Guide canoe.
Yes it tracks well and with a rudder added if you start to get off track it is easy adjusted using the rudder. I paddled close to 5 miles yesterday with no problems.Quote:

While they do help one over come poor paddling form, and force the boat to head straight on flat water, in the swirl and fast water it makes it very difficult to control. Look for a kayak with a smoother transitions on a shallower v or even flat hull. As far as tracking goes on the ride's that's one of the cooler, less talked about features. You're on a swift water creek and need maneuverability? Slide the seat back, your nose is basically out of water and you can 90 in a paddle stroke. Need to paddle 5 miles? Slide the seat forward and your front digs in keeping the boat straight so you don't have to fight it as much. Trimming the boat is one thing that the ride does that I don't think anyone else can claim.

You know they will only hold it for a short time. The place that my yak was shipped to would only hold it 5 days, may want to check with the freight company.
Called them this morning. Told them I'll be there tomorrow after noon.
I'm off at noon.
When you get to the freight company to take delivery, be sure to check the shipping box for fork lift holes. I ordered a kayak one time that came in a cardboard box
and found fork lift holes in the box. Damaged the kayak and refused to take delivery. Was shipped a new one and got it without fork lift holes. Good Luck.
Trust me I will unpack it there and inspect it before I leave the parking lot.
Hoping I beat out the rain to get it home.

Not a scratch on it. They actually unpacked it for me an let me inspeact it before I signed for it. They even helped me get it up on the roof of my HHR.
Won't be car-topping this beasty. My HHR does not have decent Anchor points front or back.

Man was that a prophetic declaration. Just 2 days early.
Was cloudy when I left werk... as I'm strapping her down to the roof (universal foam blocks) it cut loose a gully washer. By the time I hopped in the car to head home I was soaked though rain gear, jacket, shirt.... everything soaked. Drying out the contents of my wallet too (Hope I don't get busted for laundering money) .
:Doh:As I hit the street I hear we are under a tornado watch.... perfect... me with a yak on the rack. Planned for long way home to avoid the interstate and wind gusts. Still had to stop a few time to adjust the load.
Got hit once by a right angle wind that had me pulled over for 10 minutes.
Last 5 miles was highway... no other choice... but the Good Lord was watching out for me. Driving head on into 20 MPH wind... and traffic was moving at 25-30 mph.
Took me 3 hours to get home safely.
Yak is ensconced in the garage atop my balloon gondola.
Hot shower time... I'm soaked an freezing.
