Reelfoot 2-4-14

With this crazy weather we are having I'm having cabin fever and I'm ready for sunny and 75 to be here!!!! I had to make a run to Tiptonville yesterday and I stopped by Reelfoot to check the water out. Here are some pictures of the lake. The South shore resort(Samberg Ares water was open but the boat ramps are covered in ice. One picture is sunset court ramp and it was iced over but somebody had put in because the ice was broke up around the ramp, I'm not sure how they got out of the ramp but they did. Once you get down by the spill way back over to keystone area the lake has a lot of ice around the ramps and out in the lake. We will get a break soon and back out on the water.

A good day of sunshine will take care of the ice on those ramps. That may be just enough to get me over there about Saturday or Sunday.

High of 35 Saturday and mostly sunny. NNW wind at 5. I'm thinking that my put me on the water!!

Thanks for the report. The next day that the wind is less than 10 mph, I will be out there.

Awesome pics Lynn:) With the temps were gonna have the next few days dont think the ice on the ramps or around edge of lake will be any better might even be more. Not suppose to get above freezing until sat around noon and with low temps in the lower teens its not looking to good. May have to start ice fishing or head to sippi.... Getting cabin fever around here also.

Man I'm so ready to fish that I ate rag bologna and crackers the other night for supper so I could pretend I was jigging the trees. :)

I'm thinkin of trying to make my 1st ever reelfoot trip in March where would you guys recommend me to travel to for the best results ?

Nice pics, Lynn! But they'd be alot better if it was Sunny about 50 and a 5 mph wind. Ok someone slap me and wake me up from my dream. UGH!! Cabin fever is getting the best of me.

I would say fish the lower basin slow trolling. Who know the lake may still be frozen then.

Will be down May 1,2,3. Been a few years and have missed it a lot. Wish we could have come a little earlier but that is the earliest we could get away. Hope for good weather and good fishing. Being this late who knows what it will be like.

I drove up to the foot today and she is locked up pretty tight, all the parking lots were solid ice only one I dared to drive on was at keystone and it was bad but its flat so I made the circle spinning half the time. Its gonna take a couple weeks of sunshine and alot warmer temps then we been getting to thaw out enough to fish. Even drove to some of my honey holes off great river road and they were all locked up too. So ready for this weather to break I'm going stair crazy. Seen alot of ducks and geese off grr and in the fields off the interstate close to the obion river so the trip wasn't a total loss:)

Man I'm so sick of ice, snow and cold. Bring on the spring!!

This winter has been absolutely brutal up in STL. Looks like choosing the 3rd week in April this year for annual trip might just pay off. Usually it's the 1st or 2nd week, and booking a year in advance is a crap shoot.

A windy 45-50 degree day with a little sun will do wonders for the lake. But when it does open, you better have bumpers on your boat cuz it's gonna be crowded! Everyone is ready to go fishing
