Cabelas insulated Guide Wear.
I bought a set 0f Patagonia underwear about 15 years ago to wear when, of all things, I was playing golf in the winter. The first time I wore the outfit (they fit snug like ladies pantyhose) I had to stop at the first bathroom and take off the bottoms. I learned that if I am moving around at all I can't wear them. (I walk when I play golf) .
So they have been reserved for the deer stand and the boat. I tried to find another set recently. I got these at a store called the Backpacker, which specializes in outdoor gear. The closest thing I have seen to them is made my UnderArmour cold gear. I still am amazed that something this thin and this light can be so warm. Not cheap, about $80 for each piece, but I have not been cold since I got it.
This is under my pants and shirt and depending on how cold, I wear my goretex pants and jacket or if it is really cold a ski bib.
Underarmour, Mountain stalker bone dry bibs and jacket, and squaltex rain bibs and jacket--not the most expensive stuff but works really well.:twocents
Just remembered the name of the Patagonia gear. It is called Capilene and it comes in several levels. This is what I have best I can recall.

Might order another set myself.
Cabelas insulated guide wear
BP 100 mph and their pro qualifier either or along with your base layers.
Pro Qualifiers for 40 degrees or above and Article Armour for below 40. AA floats as well.

Arctic Armor.
Guidewear in the rain....hunting bibs and parka otherwise.
I would check out the Artic Armour since it has floatation built in it. I love my Guide Wear, but didn't check out the AA.
Maybe someone that has used them both will chime in. I was advised by Feesh and GDG on the comparison of the 100 mph suit vs the Guide Wear. They had used them both. I'd rather make my decision on a one on one comparison as just take someone's word on the only brand they've ever bought. If you've never used an opposing brand, how will you Really know?
That being said , I'm sure they ALL make nice suits.
I've worn a Guidewear rainsuit for years, and it's hard to beat, but for cold weather, the Arctic Armor is the best I've found. It's light, waterproof, floats you if you fall in, and has extra padding in the knees.
bps pro qualifier!
Bill I own both (Pro Qual jacket and Guidewear uninsulated bibs) and AA. The Pro Qual/Guide wear combo is by far two of the most versatile pieces of gear I own because you can layer it up or down depending on the temperature and conditions. The AA is only good for very cold weather. Above 40 you
won't be able to stand it. I usually only wear jeans or sweats underneath just to keep the temperature in check.
Speedo and ear muffs
hope this wasnt you.https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/i...ntlxDM4r6hCiqQ
I wear poly pro upper and lower covered in jeans and a long sleeve shirt. I then put on a hoodie and my insulated carhartt bibs.
100 mph for me
The AA looks like a deal at 320-340 for the entire suit. I paid a similar price for my Insulated Guide Wear suit on sale, but it doesn't float. :-)
Is the AA considered a legal Floatation Device ( PFD) by the Coast Guard, and the Corp?
Great info guys. Please keep it coming for us newbies!
I have to add something to keep my ears warm. Oh, you thought that was what the earmuffs were for?
Blaze orange banana hammock
Pro qualifier set it awesome for all conditions.
A good fleece neck gaiter will help a lot.
Bottom line is they ALL make nice gear. Just do your research JW, and pick what YOU like best. I like the flotation idea of the AA, but if you fall overboard in frigid water, you've got about 20 minutes. They could find your body sooner if you're floating tho if ya don't get back in the boat and can't get to some warm clothes or your truck.
BE SAFE IN THIS COLD WEATHER!!!!!
Arctic Armor, Really good and it will float you (Had to try it to make sure it really would before I'd need it) I have recently upgraded to their competition (Striker Ice) It also will float you but with more bells & whistles. The jacket liner can be removed for warmer temps, plus it has more vents. Red Rock store online was having some pretty good deal on the AA. Haven't visited the site in awhile. I spend to much money when I do. I also have the Ullfrotte wool for layering. I'm sold on wool now, keep you warm even when wet.
