bnm's are graphite, which makes them light but to me they are stiffer and brittle, southern crappie rods are made from kevlar and carbon and are tough as nails, they have a softer action which allows you to see a lighter bite and keep a fish hooked. the 14' southern crappie rods are sweet.
Southern Crappie. No comparison.
Southern Crappie Rods.
I have used both b&m and scr rods. Sold all my b&ms and now all i fish with is scr rods and some ole wally marshall tightline rods. Love the southern crappie rods. I agree with gobbler kevlar and carbon makes them tough. While fishing a tourny last year hung a mean ole catfish took me a while to land him but my 14ft scr held up to the strain . If they can hold up to a 25lb cat i think they are good enough. Plus you have ed to help stand behind them. Dont think you can go wrong with them. But thats my 2 cents !!!!!!!
I have started using SCR trolling rods, 7'-10' on the back of the boat, great rods. They have enough back bone I can put a 1/4oz. egg sinker & jig head and fish deep water and with the tip you can still see the lightest bites.
I concur with everyone else. Southern Crappie rods are great pieces. Additionally, if you are like me, and occasionally break a tip, Ed sells just the tips for a very reasonable price, saving you the cost of a whole new rod, or running around looking to repair it. He is also a local fisherman and friend to many. Oh and his prices are great!
Have both and love my 14 ft SCR poles. For all the reasons already listed.
Just upgraded to SCR last week. Fished them twice and they handle well. Sorry but not a lot of fish. Best of all is I went by Ed's and he was a ton of help. Check him out on Facebook and give him a call. Great guy.
^^Does he accept people at his shop? The website is set up for orders, but I'd like to just go by. I'll probably call.
He welcomes fisherman at his shop. You can bye them there. He also has a great selection of fishing stuff. Jigs, jig heads, rod holders.ect.. Tell him ole scottie boy sent you by. Ed is a great man and a good fisherman..
thanks guys for the information ed is very nice man. I when to his shop.
I stopped by there yesterday also and picked up a couple of 12 footers to try out on a small boat. Good looking rods at a good price, and Ed is very generous with his time.
