Sweet.... Glad you got into them....Ranger
Nice mess right there.
My dad and i was just talking about taking a trip to that lake....makes the decision easier now
Good job, those are some god ones!
Never been on that lake. Looks like I need to change that soon
man--I bet you had 60lbs of fish or better if they were all that big---NICE!!!
Swollen, you ain't been on Skiatook?
Its true, never even seen that lake. Was never a real reason to expand out to new lakes when I have so many around here. Blackwell is always good for a quick limit of fish and its 8 miles away. But.....with the size of those fish you got I am thinking Skiatook is looking real good.
Yep let's go next week. Hopefully it won't be iced over. I wish I had the biggest 7 at Kaw last week.
Skiatook is my home lake. I have ton's of hidden brushpiles that I've dropped over the years. It can be hot at certain times.
Crappie Hog....are you sure you can call them "hidden" with the fish finders that are out there now? I dont think a person can keep a pile hidden from anyone anymore.
No kidding. I put an elite 7 on my boat about a month ago. It's unreal how far fish locators have come. I think we pulled 5 or 6 off of wood, the rest were suspended in the channel.
Merle, its worth a shot to change up keystone to Skiatook. Keystone has not had much participation the last two times.
Sounds good to me
It's a good lake. Fished it alot when I lived in Tulsa. Too far for me now.
I wouldnt call them technically hidden but they are in akward locations where you would least expect them. :dono
What is a good place to launch on this lake? Is there stores, bait shops on the lake? Is one launch safer then another launch? Cost to get on the lake?
Josh, there are a lot of ramps on the lake. There is a good bait shop in Skiatook which is just a few miles east of the lake. I think all of the ramps have courtesy docks, but the one at Hominy Landing is not usable right now.
I always launch at Osage. It's not as crowded during the spring and summer. The only issues I have with this lake are the thieves. I'm very nervous about fishing at night because they will break into your vehicles. The biggest concern I have is catching someone in the act. I just dont have a piece of mind when I'm out late on this lake.
Crappie Hog, there are thieves everywhere.
Piece of mind is not what I carry at night, anywhere! But piece is

We fished Skiatook yesterday. It was the first time for me and my partner had only been a couple of times. We got on the water around 845 and struggled for the first hour. We finally figured out the fish were out over open water chasing schools of shad. Once we figured that out the bite was steady. We found the fish in 17-22 fow they were 12-14 feet deep. Best bait was 1/8 Crappie pro head in black with shad colored Bobby Garland baby shad and 1/8 White Crappie Pro head with blue/white Bobby Garland baby shad. We cleaned 29 and had to quit at 1230.
Odie
Wow, Odie. That is an awesome fish. Congrats!!
Nice chunk there!
That's a good one! Glad you put a report up for us!!!!
used to live in Owasso for 29 yrs.and fished Skiatook a lot. This time of year Feb.and March you could go up Hominy Creek which it is like the largest creek to feed the lake.Iam talking way up the creek like 2 to 5 miles where it starts narrowing down timber all along shore line.under normal lake level ,Idont know how far you can go with lake down. The locals used to go up at sundown and fish at night depending on weather.Iknow a guy that lives upon Hominy and would fish at night off the bank just below where he lived and would cast out to edge of channel and catch some monsters on shiners and float.Few years back he had one in freezer 19 in long.Hominy creek is more like fishing a river.Thats a real nice crappie deerhunterodie !
Anybody else getting bigger fish at Skiatook? My experience with the lake showed the fish to be on the small side.
I hardly ever catch monsters on skiatook like I do at Oologah or Eufaula. But last summer i caught one 19 inches. It was an old crappie. it was very thin and had little fight in it.
very good fish
Nice looking fish guys.
I have never seen any really big fish at Skiatook. Even scuba diving. I guess I was just diving in the wrong area. LOL
Bobo
CrappieHog, you could play a piano with those long toes. :popcorn
Ha Ha Stink. I'm glad I'm over 6 foot.
Well I went to Skiatook yesterday and got skunked. I saw fish suspended everywhere. Tried every color and not one bite.
I guess I'm getting rusty. I'll tell you what, to hear thick ice melt on the lake is one of the wierdest and troubling noises I've ever
heard. Maybe that's why the fish weren't biting. :dono
Don't know Hog. Heard the same thing Saturday. It is weird sounding. but we slayed em.
You catch them with Jigs? And what method did you use?
Double jig off the fish house at Blackwell. Not in a boat yet. Heavily brushed dock. Check out Carl Blackwell thread. Got pics there of our catch Sat.
nice mess
