Looking for some frozen water to stand on and try to catch some slabs anyone have any ideas inn this area
Went sunday in perrysburg ohio and caught 5 before getting blown off the ice the bite was good but not for long
It kills me that this site practically shuts down in the winter for northern ohio the fish are still biting in numbers any northwest ohio fisherman out there trying to find them slabs
Most of us down here in southern Ohio haven't been out in months.
I agree. I started doing most of my fishing report searches on the icefishohio.com site. You can search by lake. It's a very good website and full of information for those of us who do hard water fishing.Quote:

There's regular bunch that fishes CJ Brown. We get there when we can and hope to Saturday. This site is too oriented to Cincinnati area IMO. Need more northerners chiming in.Quote:

By the way...I used to ice fish a lot but lately (the last few years)there hasn't been much safe ice around here. This year we have ice but I just don't have the time. I guess if ya had access to some decent ponds down here you may get in a few weeks most years.
Ya weve got alot of private ponds we fish but now is thetime of year wyen you get on those crappie waters and find those fishies in deep water hung up to cover waiting to ambush and im always looking for people in my area to fish with that might have some ideas on spots that im not thinking of
I've fished all over Ohio, originally from NE, moved to Cincy almost 20 years ago. Kept my ice fishing stuff for 10 years--had safe ice one time. Finally sold it all. This is the first year in a long while we've had safe ice for more than a few weeks, and just couldn't justify keeping that stuff around. I miss ice fishing alot though. Used to have the Vex, manual and power auger, two man and one man shanties--the works. Just gathered dust.
I hear you i just refreshed all my ice gear this year around christmas time wyen my 11 year old asked if we could try yhis year and we have tried for sure almost every weekend but always lookong for new places and people to stand on water with
Mines still in the basement....still gathering dust.
Well crappiemax i think it would do you good to get out and use it i know that as much fun as it is catching them through the ice i cant wait for that first open water spring bite
