My two cents!

Haven't posted in a while, but I thought I would share what has been working for me lately. By myself I caught 45 last Saturday and 37 couple of weeks prior with spinnerbaits. #2 silver hildebrant with 1/16 jig head and a black/green/chartreuse or blue/white triple tail or other curl tail grub. Been fishing any canal that I can find lush, green coontail or hydrilla in the 3 to 6 ft depth range with gin clear water. You have to fish so slow that you are constantly yanking the spinnerbaits through the grass. A lot of times you think your pulling through what you think is grass and end up with a 13 incher!! It has been a blast! Been fishing sacalait since I'm a kid and haven't got on em with a spinner like I have this year!

Nice! Thanks for the report and pictures! Sounds alot like the way I fish the marsh except I use beetle spins.

That is also a favorite method of mine early in the season. My last trip out I used a Road Runner instead of the spinner. I use a gold spinner a lot.

I stay close to the house and fish the dead end canals off of des Allemands. Looks like weather conditions will be favorable Monday, think I feel the flu coming on!! Could go for another 30 or 40!!

Nothing like a 3 year old chatting away about sacalait! Was able to get him his first one last year off the side of the road in paradis last year, but can't wait for him to be the boat.

Thanks for the post. Very well done. Blue and white is the color in winter in our area.

Yep, same here. Mine started coming at 3 and he just made 4. Now my 1 yr old and the 3 week away newborn might have to wait a while! Either my fishing days will slow down or they will beg me to go! And well I will just have to take them.:dono :fingerdance

Haawg, Man it looks like that dead end pattern is in full swing in Des Allemands. I really like to go really light with a 1/32 oz. jig head on a beetle spin (0 hildebrant gold). Nice going and by the way, I grew up in Mimosa Park.....SLIP

Yeah, I picked up some 1's and zero's today in case winds are light this weekend. Those last two trips, the wind was intense!! I think smaller is always better if you can still detect the lure while your fishing. Seems like a couple of you guys like gold? Is that just a confidence thing? Thought gold was more of an off color water choice?

As for the gold, I guess I just like the Bling and so do the fish. I have used silver also but for some reason always come back to gold.
