Love it when they get that beautiful black colors on them . The ones that come out of lake norfork are almost solid black ,,, always wanted to mount me a few of those they are awesome looking.
Good fishin Russ
Love spawning Crappie in their tuxedo colors. But right now pale ones would be great. We still have too much wind and muddy water here. Hoping for another good spring season this year .
Make me spend some gas and motel money!
Come on spring

Those are some good looking fish. Won't be long until we get to see some of that!
Purdy! About what date do the males start to darken up? Late February or early March?
Hey Russ I just merged the 2 post together instead of deleting one of them. And yes come on Spring, work is slowing down so I will have plenty of time to fish.
They start darkening up Late Feb mainly depending on weather patterns. They are the darkest through the month of April. Those Big Tux males will Strike with such force it Jars your ball cap loose and almost scares the hull out of ya when they hit. They they will test your tackle at every turn around those big ole cypress trees. What a Blast. I am Ready Ready.
Nice Russ! Those are some beautiful crappie
For the record..........I am NOT tired of seeing pale white crappie.
That is all.

Good looking fish
I love this pic from last spring. The light colored ones came from the AR River and the dark ones came from Horshoe lake in Scott. It was springtime.

Very nice. Love the color but light fries up good as well.
CP, thank you for trying. And those are very nice, I do say.
BUT.....
I did not say I wanted to see PICTURES of pale white crappie. I said "I am not tired of SEEING pale white crappie". I just pulled a shrink wrapped package out of the freezer and fondled it. Things are bad here. Real bad. Twitching, and stuff. But I ain't busting ice. Retired means going when the temp is high enough that your thin blood can still coagulate.
HAHA!!! Nice Pic River.
