I am a bit of a traditionalist and like fishing for crappie with one rod maybe two. Then there are some who fish with five or ten rods in the water at one time. What way do you prefer to fish?

If I'm fishing solo I'll fish 14 rods. If someone goes with me I can fish 16 though.
I like 8 to 10 rods longlining or spider rigging, nightstalking = a boat full :)
Currently i use 4 working my way up tho:biggrin
If wife is with me ill do 8
try and do 6 for me and my wife.. thats the limit also here
I usually fish 6 rods tight lining out the front of the boat. If someone's fishing with me...4 to 6 out the back.
I've done it all, as many as 12 rods, but the last 5 years its been one rod.Catching more fish now than ever before.
none if they aint bitin one if they are LOL
usually 2 or three unless trolling (long lining) then mostly 6
In my center console I can fish 24 tight lining and 14 long lining. In my new boat I can fish 16 long lining and could possibly fish 36 tight lining. 36 isn't really feasible but it's possible. Pics to come this weekend on the new boat and setup.
1 is about all that I can handle in the swamp, maybe that's why it takes me an hour or two before I have my limit.
Longlining by myself I use 14 rods, tightlining only 8.
As it stands, most states don't have a rod limit while fishing out of a boat. I'm a proponent of an 8 rod per boat limit. Most tournaments have rules stating this, and I find it to be adequate for both tight lining and long line trolling when fishing with some one or solo. When brush or structure fishing, one or occasionally two rods are used.
I fish 1 and never use live bait just casting.
My boat is set up for 8 front and 14 out of rear for tight lineing or pulling
48 off the front, 64 off the back. Man we use the minners!
Happy New Year to everyone. Yes SeaRay, I fish and play golf in Santee often.
I was a club pro for 17 years before getting out of the business to spend more time with my family and get my weekends back. Nice to be on the otherside of the golf business as a consumer.
At the risk of being tied to a stake and stoned with dead perch, :hatchet: maybe we should have a golf/crappie outing. Robdog and I talked about it but never got around to doing it.
I haven't gotten into trolling or longlining, but I started by crappie fishing endeavor spidderrigging with 4 poles out the front and 4 out the back for a partner. Now, I prefer to catch them on the jig pole or casting, but I can run 8 out the front and 4 out the back. With a double seat rig I can fish 2 folks up front to watch the 8 and that's what I do when it's 2 folks fishing. I haven't gotten accustomed to watching that many poles by myself and I still like the 4 per person setup.
I really like that idea Ray, not the best golfer in the world, but not the worst either. While taking a hiatus from fishing here of late, I have been playing golf weekly. If something gets put together, and I'm off, and it's not too far away, I would like to participate.
We single pole jig with one rod a piece. By myself I longline and tightline with 6 rods. With 2 people in the boat we longline with 10 poles and tightline with 12 poles. We use anywhere from 2-6 lb line.
6 long lining seems it would be a lot of trouble to use more. I catch plenty of limits don't know why you would need more. Actually I usually catch all the fish on one or two of them for some reason.
1-2 rods seems to keep me busy. As far as golf, I gave up golf for fishing! I can fish when I want, where I want, and dress the way I want, and I have found that regardless of how you cook a golf ball, you can not make it tender!!
Thanks for the Welcome. I am No Club Pro but on a good day I can Play Decent.
Sounds like a Great Idea when the weather warms up some. I am no cold weather golfer.
I'm more of a "whatever it takes" kind of guy, but normally I fish 6-8 rods regardless of whether I'm tightlining or longlining.
I take lots of families fishing, which usually includes 2-4 children. I rig out the battleship with 14 trolling rods, from 4.5 to 14 ft. And no, when 5-7 rods go down at once, I've never heard the kids complain about having too many rods aboard or too many fish on at once! :highfive
