Well it has come time to dig for the fish. They are still there it is just a little harder to get at them.

Congratulations on a fine catch and working at it that way.........
Now that's what I call a crappie addiction...
And don't even need a cooler to put the catch in...:)

glad i dont have to hard water fish
how do you pick your spot, and are they deep, and after all that hard work bet them sho nuff taste great.
I watched your drilling video. You tougher than I am. My luck would be the ice cracked and I would fall in. Only hard ice fishing we do is pulling them out the freezer.
I just LOVE the color of those Maine black crappie! Beautiful!!
When fishing this way you don't have to worry about drifting of your spot. The water is always calm. You don,t need to bring ice. You can go back to the exact same spot tomorrow without using gps. You always know exactly where your jig is.
You southern boys just dont understand. Icefishing is the only time we can walk on water, drill holes and fish 10 ft away from the next guy, without him gettin mad, sit in a shanty with a heater, and sit on a school of crappies that we can see as we drop our bait down to them. You get use to the lake rumbling as it's making more ice or see and hear cracks as they run across the lake, by your shanty, or even under your legs. We have respect for the ice but we dont fear it. It's as much a passion as casting to crappies during the spawn for us. If any of you are in the NW PA area during mid january and want to see what all the hype is, let me know and i'll take you with me one time. Sorta like they say about drugs, the first hit and you're hooked. Nothing like pulling that slab crappie or gill up thru that hole in the water.

Im just not sure I want to be that cold for that long.
When you drill the hole in the ice you want to make sure that the ice is snow covered. If you don't have any snow cover on the ice you want to minimize your movement on the ice. They will see your shadow and will spoke them or make them a where of your presents. EB
Nice bunch of fish... I've always wanted to ice fish... Keep posting pics!
:hesaid I was just talking to a guy at work Yesterday about how I would like to ice fish and see what its like. Pretty sure I would have to leave Oklahoma though to give it try!!
That is dedication!
